A beautiful Victorian mansion, Fowey Hall Hotel looks out over the stunning Fowey Estuary, and is said to have inspired Toad Hall in Wind in the Willows. Inside, its 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant serves up Cornish-inspired gourmet flavours, as well as classic afternoon teas which can be enjoyed out on the tranquil terrace.

Fresh local flavours abound on the Fowey Hall Hotel menu, with herbs used from the hotel's own garden, and other ingredients taken right from the local beaches. Cornish catch of the day is served with English asparagus, tempura langoustine, Cornish crushed new potatoes and fish velouté, with other hearty recipes including Gelly Farm organic free change chicken, served as roasted breast and confit thigh, with pancetta, herb mash and morel sauce.

Other authentic Cornish produce features at Fowey Hall Hotel in Cornwall, including Camel Valley wines, Tarquin's gin and Skinner's ales. Afternoon teas are an indulgent affair, and include finger sandwiches, fresh scones with jam and clotted cream, delicate pastries, and loose leaf teas.

Catering for children as well, and with fantastic attention to detail throughout, Fowey Hall Hotel is just a 7-minute walk from central Fowey.

We had afternoon tea and the quality was very good overall. The service, however, was very poor. An incorrect drink was delivered to the table and we were expected to accept it anyway! It was only changed after insisting. There was not enough cream to eat with the 6 scones our party had ordered. We asked for more but it never turned up. The location is lovely and apart from the service everything was fine.

We had Full Afternoon Tea which was very good. But disappointed with the (lack of) service.

We arrived early but couldn't be accommodated..lovely venue, house, people.. tea & coffee arrived along with our clotted cream & jam.. 20 mins later i had to ask re the actual tea.. clotted cream had now been ill n the 3 oclock full sun and we had finished our tea/ coffee... when i enquired what the sandwiches were the waitress said, tuna & mayo, egg & crest, cheese and something else... totally wrong..there was some curried chick, salmon, cucumber and a cream cheese type thing... all quite nice but surprise as not what we were told.. overall nice but waited too long 4 it..would of preferred our cream tea to arrive with the actual tea.

Superb location for a relaxed dining experience. Double baked cheese souffle was melt in the mouth as was the fillet of cornish beef. Everyone else in the group also enjoyed their choice. Lovely service from the staff and the choice of accompanying wines very good too.

Afternoon tea was a beautiful experience. Lovely food, attentive and friendly staff, and a wonderful atmosphere. We have been a few times and have fond memories.

The afternoon tea is beautiful when it comes out. It may look dainty but don't be deceived - its filling. But it was lovely that we could box up the remainder and take it home.
