Now in its fourth generation the Viennese restaurant Figlmüller, in the Wollzeile behind the St Stephen's Cathedral, still serves its renowned schnitzel. Sartorially elegant in timeless tuxedos, expert waiters bring the generously-sized tender yet crispy specialities to your table.
Other Austrian culinary classics can be found on the menu at Figlmüller, such as the Wiener Tafelspitz (boiled beef) with a chive sauce, apple horseradish and roast potatoes, alongside veal goulash with butter dumplings. However, there is really only one dish on everyone’s lips: the Figlmüller Schnitzel. Their speciality, created solely with the best meat cut called the rose or tenderloin, measures around 30cm in diametre and is covered in very special “imperial” breadcrumbs from Austrian emperor rolls, baked especially for Figlmüller.
The original restaurant in Vienna was opened by Johann Figlmüller as a wine tavern on the Wollzeile, behind the St Stephen’s Cathedral. The traditional charm and welcoming atmosphere still thrives today and guests love nothing more than a good chat over their schnitzel.
The restaurant on Wollzeile is just a stone’s throw from the St Stephen’s Cathedral in the heart of Vienna’s historic city centre. The Figlmüller Wollzeile restaurant is two minutes’ walk from Stephansplatz U-Bahn station and bus stop.

We arrived on time and had our table as reserved. The waiter was nice and quick. Our food also arrived quickly and it was as expected. Nice Schnitzel. 3pm on a weekday is a good time to visit maybe even without booking they had spare tables.

Sonst steht man lange an.

Bedienung freundlich, Essen gut. Kleine Tische, sehr eng und wenig Platz.Getränkeangebot überschaubar.

Perfect Wiener schnitzel and also other local specialties such as feldsalat, dumplings soup and grape juice. Schnitzel is the size of a pizza, perfectly prepared, not greasy at all, with nice thin meat. Well complemented with the local salads (there are two main options but both are actually quite similar) and drinks such as Traubensaft grape juice or herbal soft drink Almdudler is something you won't find outside Austria. Downside of the restaurant is its toilet which is actually an outhouse and a dirty one at that.
