Four of us thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant especially the food. There was variety and good vegetarian options that pleased us. We enjoyed the prawns and crab as well.

Starting off as a pop-up venture, Farang has now become a permanent restaurant after diners were blown away by the exotic Thai delicacies on the mouthwatering menu. This cosy little restaurant features rustic style throughout, including exposed brick walls and Thai artwork on the walls, with a small pavement seating area at the front.

Contemporary Thai street food is the focus of the Farang menu, made with a combination of seasonal British ingredients and ones imported from Thailand. Small plate delicacies include crispy tempura chicken with fiery scotch bonnet and fish sauce glaze, with larger plates of braised beef cheeks with mustard greens and pickled ginger.

Exotic cocktails at Farang in Highbury are made with exotic additions such as house lemon grass tea brew and dehydrated raspberry dust, while the wine list includes carefully selected vintages from Thailand.

A Thai Thai restaurant in London with a cosy feel, Farang is just a 10-minute walk from Arsenal Tube Station.

Favourite dish was the beef green curry large plate, meat was very succulent and spice was just right. Must admit spice level in some dishes was higher than to our taste, and a few other couples sitting around us who were clearly suffering - would be good if menu indicated this a bit better. Also whether a dish is hot or cold - we expected an aubergine dish to be hot but it was cold and to use therefore less pleasant. It does say that dishes come as they’re ready but we were a bit disappointed that our three small plates, one large plate and two sides all basically came at once as then it felt like we needed to rush things just to make space on the table. A bit of a disappointing experience. Would recommend, but with these few small warnings.

Congratulations to Seb, chef and all the staff. Lovely atmosphere. Wouldnlije a bit more variety on menu but quality if food makes up for it. Really good, highly recommend it.

Farang is a wonderful authentic Thai restaurant with a unique range of dishes. Especially great to have so many vegan and vegetarian options. Delicious cocktails and lovely service. Delighted what started as a pop up is still here and within walking distance!

Good experience. Food on spicy side, portions quite large

The food was lovely, seriously chilli hot, but full of flavour.

The vegetarian options were not great though, nor was the staff or manager’s understanding of how to produce vegetarian food. After asking for clarification on what the ‘vegetarian option’ meant for some dishes, and having got confused answers, it eventually became clear the answer was ‘take out meat, add more vegetable’. Which is rather lacking in protein, a word which the waiter didn’t know...

So good, but don’t bother if you are vegetarian.

Excellent food. Interesting flavor combinations yet authentic. Loved it. Not your run of the mill Thai. Service super friendly. Only quibble is the hefty corkage fee on the Bring Your Own Bottle.

Overall the food was terrific, the braised beef cheeks in coconut mil being a particular highlight. But Farang needs to rethink how they communicate with customers. There is no indication on the menu and no explanation by the wait staff of just how hot some of then dishes are, and our meal was effectively ruined when we ordered a Thai green papaya salad that burned our mouths so badly we literally could not taste the other (lovely) dishes we'd ordered. We left the dish almost untouched. It was literally inedible. But when I told our waiter at the end of the meal that we'd been unable to eat the papaya salad on account of its explosive heat (we are not wimps, we like our spice, but this was beyond the bounds), he effectively told us it was our fault. He said, "It's not as hot as the salad they serve at Som Saa". Then he said 'These are authentic flavours" - as if we'd never eaten quality Thai food before. I found his attitude condescending and unsympathetic. I felt the restaurant should not have charged us for the dish that ruined our meal. And we left with somewhat bitter feelings about an experience that we'd very much looked forward to, after friends had recommended Ferang to us.
