A conceptual fusion restaurant and cocktail bar, ETC... lies in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan's attractive seaside town, Penarth.

The ETC… menu is packed with local and seasonal produce, which goes into an array of innovative dishes. Chef Stephen Gomes is a passionate advocate of molecular gastronomy, pushing the boundaries of traditional cooking to craft dishes with a unique identity. Signature starters include a prawn chocolate cocktail with lemon foam and cinnamon essence, followed by the likes of rib-eye steak with twice-fried chips or Moroccan vegetables, and spinach-infused spaghetti in a chicken and mushroom carbonara sauce.

In the chic bar area, a selection of smaller plates and sharers are on offer, as are stylish signature cocktails. A quirky twist on Sunday lunch is also a popular choice.

    Simply excellent, such a wonderful experience. From the moment my wife and I arrived we were warmly greeted and shown to our reserved table. Even though it was the 16th February they had set us up a valentine table with lovely decorations that brought a tear to my wife's eyes. The place is just enchanting with amazing decor and atmosphere. The food was absolutely fantastic with cocktails and wine to make it extra special. Such a warm and friendly host and staff we were made to feel both welcome and special. Its the second time that we have been there and its a firm favourite as that special place to go for a wonderful night out- thank you. Steve & Sue

    The restaurant was cold and the music very loud. I sat during my whole meal with my coat on. Food very mediocre and expensive. My meal arrived on a boiling hot plate but the French beans were cold. Limited menu which has not changed for a long time.

    Hiya,

    My partner and I visited and we were so looking forward because we we'd been meaning to go for months.

    We both loved the food. I've got a tiny appetite but managed to clear my plates, I love the vegetarian options on the Christmas menu. The food was great, the wine was great too.
    We were served by Joe who was very lovely, I'm wondering though what his knowledge of wine is, I feel like he was wishing he knew more as he was talking to us. I hope that you are equiping your staff with the training and knowledge they need to do their jobs confidently. We enjoyed his service, he clearly works hard.

    The decor is gorgeous, such a beautiful room.

    However, we arrived at 5:30ish and it was absolutely freezing, I could bear to take my coat and scarf off even while we were eating. The restaurant opens at 5pm doesn't it? I'm wondering if there's a way to ensure that the restaurant is warm enough by the time your customers come to dine.
    Secondly, we were hoping for some more tasteful music. As musicians we feel that the playlist didn't adequately reflect the ambience that the decor and the food presentation set. I feel that some jazz or classical would match the quality of the food and better suit the dining experience.
    Lastly, because of the temperature, our red wine was very chilled. I have never spent that much money on a bottle of wine and I was hoping that it would at least be served at the correct temperature, and have been allowed to breathe before being poured for us.

    That all being said, we very much enjoyed our visit and we wish you all the best!

    Disappointing. The decor was lovely, but the food was just re- heated. We were also charged for starters and separate main course despite ordering from the set menu, and therefore overcharged by approx £20.

    We enjoyed our lunch on new years eve. The young male staff were very polite and helpful.

    Fabulous, friendly and efficient staff. Try the scallops on a bed of laverbread, its divine.

    Fantastic looking when walked in.
    Starters i had duck rolls which i found hard to eat out of small tube glasses if they didn't come out with the fork.Also if i was not to keen on one of the dips i would have wasted a roll.
    Main coarse.
    I had steak which was over priced for what came.Small and not very tasty.
    Desert.
    I ordered cheese board.Loads of crackers very little cheese and variety.Frozen grapes bring nothing to the plate.Just prolong the life.
