In the old days, 'es coc' meant 'the cook' in the Catalán language. Recently established in the small, tranquil town of Santanyí, this restaurant of the same name is owned by Chef Marc Vidal who, for many years, had a dream to open up a gourmet restaurant in Santanyí. The house that Es Coc is set in was built in the 1920's and belonged to Marc's grandmother. The house has now been fully refurbished, whilst preserving as much as possible of the original style of the house at the same time. With care, love and dedication, Marc has created an elegant, informal and homely space where dinner guests can enjoy good food. At Es Coc, he tries to update and refine the traditional Mallorcan recipes, as well as introduce ingredients that are popularly used today.
