The name Epicur relates to the sensual pleasure of food as proclaimed by the Greek philosopher Epicurus in his school called The Garden. The theme has been taken up by movements such as Slow Food, which promotes a culture of quality food and eco-gastronomy. The quality of the ingredients is always a fundamental factor in the preparation and selection of high cuisine. The restaurant offers Catalan, Basque and Mediterranean dishes and tapas in general: croquettes, trinxat (cabbage and potato cake), bruschetta of grilled vegetables, rib of beef with cider, salt cod, pollo pota blava (chicken stew), foie gras, ecological vegetables... updated classic recipes. There are various set menus that clients can choose from such as the tasting menu with six dishes and two desserts, which varies depending on the day; the sidrería menu with rib of beef for two people, or the lunchtime menu which includes three dishes from a choice of 10, which can be starters or main courses. Wine suggestions change each week and receives special emphasis at Epicur as one of the key elements of Mediterranean culture. Many of the wines are served by the glass to allow diners to discover as many varieties and producers as possible and each dish has a recommended wine to go with it. The wine list is extensive and has received two Cartaví awards (3rd in 2007 and 2nd in 2008). The restaurant organises wine tastings with prestigious producers every month, which end in a dinner to match the wines being tasted. The last tasting was with Can Ràfols dels Caus and future tastings are being planned. Wine tasting courses are also available. With its two separate dining areas, Epicur can meet any customer requirement, from informal tapas through to celebration dinners.
