Food was great

Lunch in the Terrace Bar was excellent, but dinner was a disappointing experience on Saturday 27th April 2019. The service was very, very slow. The pink duck breast was overdone, but having waited so long for it my wife ate it but didn't enjoy it. The roast beef eventually came up as Pork Belly so I sent that back, and my wife got on eating the duck while I waited a few more minutes for the roast beef. 20 minutes to get a glass of wine, and the second glass had to be chased up too. We did an apology for the delay, my roast dinner wasn't charged, and we were given 2 glasses of wine free due to the wait. On Sunday night the experience was much better. Dunston Hall really does have the potential to be a 5 star hotel, but it is let down by a lack of floor management so things don't run as smoothly as they should do.

Food was very good , Restaurant could do with an upgrade and not much atmosphere but clean and staff gave good service.

Room good size. Unfortunately bed and pillows were uncomfortable and no other pillows available in the wardrobe. Food very good, but service slow as several golfers had large tables of people who were being attended to. Leisure facilities and staff - excellent.

Really lovely place to stay and eat. The food was really good. Service was excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.
I've only scored drinks and ambience 4/5 because we were looking for a quiet dinner and there were a few children in the restaurant, and the wine was quite expensive. However, we were given as quiet a table as possible, so we were happy.

It was a little disappointing, the food was ‘nice’ but again, it was a little overpriced and it was not the most amazing dining experience, particularly when paying over £15 for an average carvery!
The breakfast buffet was ‘nice’ but not overly luxurious & though it was replenished several times and the quality was ok, it was just simply-okay.

Booked expecting a carvery but not available on the day. Limited menu available, food ok, not blown away. Not overly busy but had to wait a while for our mains, looking around so did most customers as all the staff were apologising. Lacked leadership in the front of house department.
I work in hospitality as a hotel manager so I know what I'm looking for and what to expect. It just seems it needs some TLC and some strong leadership. Waiting staff on the day very polite and helpful

Paid £45 for afternoon tea for 2. Seated a few feet from bar which was entertaining a group of loud, drunk, swearing wedding guests and it was impossible to talk to my partner. We asked to move, as did another group having afternoon tea, to be told there was nowhere else to go. The tea was 35 minutes late coming out and was very disappointing. We wouldn’t have minded the minimal amount of food if we were paying for the atmosphere and surroundings, but we certainly didn’t get that. An absolute waste of money and I would never recommend to anybody. I’ve had more pleasant experiences in transport cafes!
