We arrived at 7 pm. We didn't get offered a drink until 7:45 pm and our starter till 8 pm, The restraunt seemed to be understaffed and the atmosphe was frosty as all the customers were having the same problem as us. The Pork I had was overcooked and seemed to be cooked an hour before and was left under a heat lamp. I couldn't wait to pay and go as it was nearly 10 pm by the time we left. Offered one drink all night!

Very disappointing. It was obvious that you had lost my booking and needed to make up a table hastily. When I made my booking I told you under 'special request' that I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen for 30 years. You took no notice of that and maybe didn't even read it? We waited 30 minutes before anyone came to take our drinks - and that was after I got a waiters' attention because no-one was coming to our table. Waited another 10 minutes to be told the wine I wanted was out of stock. Ordered another wine that then took a further 10 minutes to come. So best part of an hour to even get a drink. Our order was taken after we'd been there about 45 minutes. It took a further 20-25 minutes to come and then only 2 of the dishes arrived. Mine came 5-10 minutes later, despite it being THE SAME as one of the other people at the table. Just awful. Won't be going back again.

Overall the experience was ok and the afternoon tea was lovely. However, the service was a little slow. Asked for the bill and some take out boxes and had to ask twice as the first person never came back. Also they automatically put service charge, which is down to us whether it is paid.

Afternoon Tea, very disappointed. Poor selection of sandwiches, we don't like smoked salmon or coronation chicken but nothing to substitute. Waiter said it's because sandwiches we pre made and couldn't offer anything else. We were on eat out to help out otherwise would have been mega expensive. Service good, very friendly. Been here before approx 10 years ago, was much better then.

The food was good, the service however was a little annoying. We ate twice here and both times we were either overcharged or they forgot to subtract deals/agreed discount. When challenged they altered it but the first night saw a rather bolshy Frenchman stand over us while we were rushed to pay the bill. There was good reason for this as he amended the overcharged win, he also charged us £9 each for fish cakes which should have been £7.50 and charged us for full price children’s courses when it should have been 3 course for £10. They neglected to use the Eat out to help out discount on BOTH nights and had to be asked to do this. Frustrating and needless tasks that ultimately caused us to mistrust staff and their policies.

Very disappointed with the afternoon tea experience it took over an hour to get served food although the tea came quickly but only a pot and no hot water to replenish We were led to believe that we could choose our sandwich fillings and in doing so my husband and I only got 3 out of 4 sandwiches Only one scone had fruit in it and they were more like rock buns than scones The small cakes were fine though did not look freshly made There are limited seats in front of the window so had a view of behind the bar The afternoon tea was a birthday treat so we would still have gone but it was part of the £10 offer with the government This made it an acceptable price, it would not have been good value for money if it had been at full price

Little disappointed with the experience. Started with being told that we shouldn't even be here because we weren't staying in the hotel (as if I'm supposed to know that or that was said when I booked online) and ended with having to ask 4 times for the bill. The food was... Fine. Nothing to write home about and I've certainly eaten better. Service was slow and we had to enquire when our mains will be ready. Took about 40 minutes between starters and mains. We didn't bother staying for dessert. We made use of the government eating out scheme with the restaurant giving us a full 50% off our meal, instead of the mandated discount upto £10 per person, so that was good. We feel that the experience was OK for the price we paid but certainly not if we had paid full price. We will not be back.

Booked a celebratory meal for a family birthday. The food and service were excellent - would recommend the daube of beef. There was a slight mix up and delay with desserts but staff were apologetic and it didn’t detract from the evening. The restaurant was busier than I had expected (Sunday evening) but tables were well spaced - good social distancing and hygiene standards.
