All was well until we were given a table with a marble top and easy chairs near the window. The table top was FULL of rings where cups etc had been and the table not wiped. We were served well at first and then waiters busied themselves with other things talking quite noisily. We had to seek their attention and at one point I had to go looking for one. The tea was average, the fruit cake was dry and the sandwiches out of the fridge and cold.

We love Afternoon Tea at Oulton Hall. The whole experience is such a treat with butler service, nothing is too much trouble and lovely chairs and sofas to relax on. The rhubarb scones are amazing. Booked this one as a mid week treat with a glass of Prosecco and had a lovely time.

Both myself & friend want to say a huge thank you to Dawn Haddington for showing us where everything was she was so helpful. A credit to your company. We ate at the Calverley. Ordered 2 large gins to be served in pint glasses. Not very pleasant. I asked why no gin glasses to be advised you had a wedding party who needed them. We were paying guests. This was sorted after about half an hour when a kind member of staff got 2 from the champagne bar. We had a spa treatment then went to use the facilities after. It was like been on a holiday resort. Kids screaming diving into the pool. Throwing goggles. Parents not supervising. Not a relaxing experience. I fed this back but nothing was done.

The character and ambience of Oulton Hall were perfect however the meal was disappointing. Two of the main courses were served tepid and the vegetarian risotto was incredibly bland . There appeared to have been no attempt at seasoning and as there were only a few miniscule florets of cauliflower garnishing it the flavour was non existent. I tried to rescue it with salt (something I would not normally do) but the salt cellar on the table was wet and clogged .

My friend and I had another enjoyable afternoon tea, an annual event. The service was excellent as always.
We then vacated to the champagne bar where the service was atrocious, to the point that we ordered a bottle of champagne which our first selection they didn’t have, our second choice they didn’t have so had to go and find a bottle from the restaurant.
My friend wasn’t then handed the bottle and then asked if she wanted him to open it!
A guest then carried the ice bucket outside to our table.
This service is not what we’re used to.

We had a disappointing visit on our 1st night - poor service and plates not cleared away for some time, despite on the face of it having plenty of staff on duty. We spoke to the duty manager afterwards and he apologised saying that he would ensure it did not happen again on our 2nd night.
Our next evening meal went very well and service levels were much better. Staff were attentive and there was no problem at all.
A good selection of meals on offer and an excellent choice of wines - albeit a little pricey.

Food when arrived was fine but unfortunately we had to wait 1 hour from taking our order to being served. As we had invited our friends to join us for dinner to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, we were very disappointed with the service. Staff very pleasant, helpful and apologetic. On our second night we ate in the Champagne Bar, food was excellent and from ordering to actually eating was 20 minutes. What a shame it wasn't like that on the previous evening.

    Booking easy
Huge change in staff which surprised us
    Food as good as always
Service however does need the team to gel
Everyone was trying very hard to please
But due to inexperience as a team the service was very slow and disjointed
