With an inventive menu of homely British food, Davy’s Wine Vaults in Greenwich offers al fresco dining and an extensive range of vintages. A London stalwart for over 40 years, its wood-panelled caverns are cosy and inviting, with Davy’s Sunday afternoon lunches accompanied by live music.

The pleasingly rustic Davy’s Wine Vaults menu bursts with tempting taste combinations. Duck liver pâté with toasted sourdough bread and pickled cucumber, or deep-fried goat’s cheese with beetroot and orange blossom honey make flavourful starters.

Vegetarian mains include wild mushroom risotto with Portobello mushroom, and superfood salad with grilled halloumi. Chargrilled steaks and fish and triple-cooked chips are among hearty choices from the Davy’s Wine Vaults kitchen.

Artisanal British cheese and chutney make a fitting conclusion, while the Davy’s sommeliers are happy to guide you through its hundreds of alluring world wines. Davy’s Wine Vaults in London is a convenient 2-minute walk from Greenwich Train Station and DLR.

Excellent all round. The service was quick and efficient, the food was wonderful and the wine was great. Could not find fault with anything. It just happened to be a lovely sunny day so we sat outside and it was a really lovely experience all round.

Food was delicious. Had bread and olives to start. Good variety of bread and plentiful, was impressed with the olives too. Had bangers and mash and my sister had the steak. Both were cooked perfectly, good portion size and more importantly tasted great. I will definitely be returning soon!

Excellent service, very cheerful friendly staff, in a very pleasant atmosphere. Good choice of menu and the food was served promptly. Only one slight complaint. The beans could have done with a bit more cooking, A lovely afternoon.

Loved this place. The food, wine and service were all really good. It was great to sit outside under the heaters but inside was also nicely done with lots of small booths and nooks and crannies.

The food, service and wine were all excellent. The place has a very good atmosphere and is warm and cosy. The manager was particularly good and helpful, he suggested wines to finish our meal.

I had a glass of white port, which I think was rather tired, he replaced it without question.

The sausage and mash was really delicious, a great deal at £12.95 including a glass of wine. The fish and chips were also excellent.

I would give the evening 5 out of 5 and would highly recommend it.

We ate early evening on a Monday night, so the restaurant was quiet on our arrival, but it got busy later on. Service was excellent, and food was also good, as was the wine, which we very much enjoyed. I had a sirloin teak and my husband had a crab and prawn pasta dish, both were enjoyable. A little disappointed with the dessert which was a trio selection, but on the whole we had a very nice evening, and would go back when visiting the area.

If you are hoping for a bright and airy experience, our table at the back of the restaurant might not be what you're seeking. However, our low lit table for 10 was perfectly catered for by some genuinely thoughtful staff, and the wine, food and staff were all top notch.

We didn't want to mess around so ordered a few bottles of the house wine straight away, which were well above average quality.

The menu is also straight forward. Sausage and mash seemed to be a winner on our table, and for those who had the option, upgrading to triple cooked chips was a no brainier. Everything was delicious.

Lastly there service was spot on. Staff were kind, attentive and happy to get involved.

Overall we had a fantastic time, enough to be bothered to leave this glowing review. Big thumps up!
