The Stapelhäuschen is situated right by the Rhine 500 meters from the Cathedral and Central Station. Here you can enjoy German cooking and a well selected wine list - all this is available throughout the day from 6.30am to 11.30pm on weekdays and also on public holidays. This restaurant which used to be known as Haus Pedernach is the only historical building on the banks of the Rhine which also has a hotel and boarding house attached to it and which is mentioned in chronicles and building lists. The building was established in 1950 as a hotel and restaurant and was renamed at this point Im Stapelhäuschen. During the renovations, a hall with mezzanine gallery, typical for these trading houses in Cologne, was rebuilt. Of particular interest in the Stapelhäuschen is the lift apparatus, which, in centuries gone by, would transport the goods up by means of the cantilever attached to the gable.
