I stayed here last year with a friend and we decided to meet up here again for lunch, before T flew back to Australia. My partner joined us for this meal. A beautiful day - perfect for that stunning view from the terrace. We had the three course menu, which is excellent value, bearing in mind the surroundings. The new Summer Menu has good choices and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The service was immaculate. He maitre d’ was so accommodating and helpful (did not get a name but suit, glasses and of a certain age!). We all had a delightful three hours together - thanks to this perfect restaurant.

We had a great afternoon tea at Danesfield house. The staff were fantastic and the grounds were beautiful and very peaceful. Took a walk beforehand and found some lovely lookout spots over the river. We had a little wait before they took out Afternoon Tea order so we were given a complimentary glass of Champagne which was lovely! The cakes and sandwiches were all delicious. Nice selection of teas available also. Would recommend :-)

Great setting and great food. Service was very good but the waiter was a bit frustrated as we arrived 10 minutes late. Lovely venue to spend a few hours in.

I chose Danesfield House for my wife's 60th birthday afternoon tea. The location we knew would be superb, as this was the venue of our wedding reception many years ago. However, we feel rather let down by all other aspects of the experience.
The temperature of the terrace restaurant very cold to the point I had to keep my outdoor coat on. The service was not as attentive as expected, the waiter disappeared after serving the afternoon tea, but did not return to check all was ok, even though he pointed out that the cream and jam supplied was probably not sufficient for 4 scones. We had to stop another member of staff walking the restaurant to ask for the predicted extra cream and jam. By the time it arrived the remaining 2 scones were thoroughly cold. Come on Danesfield House, just provided enough jam and cream for the scones you're serving. The sandwiches were pleasant, but wafer thin filling in both the ham and beef sandwiches. At this price point the sandwich filling should be more than a smear of horseradish and a single thin slice of beef. The cake selection was bland and uninspiring considering the price and location. Finally, a 15% service charge would only be acceptable if the service and all aspects of the experience were excellent.
A lovely afternoon because of the location, but could have been so much better.
