Three of us had an excellent Sunday lunch from the carvery. Everything looked very fresh and tempting and I think we all did it justice.

Overlooking the rolling greenery of the on-site golf course, Cast Iron Grill offers steak and grill favourites. A cosmopolitan dining room sees shabby-chic brickwork offset by a magnificent glass wine cabinet.

Championing the finest seasonal ingredients, the Cast Iron Grill menu blends classic flavour combinations with tried-and-tested cooking methods, with a range spanning from lighter bites, to hearty mains. Trusty favourites include the signature hand-pressed burger, while globe-trotting recipes include the Odeiga-spiced chicken hoagie, and charred cauliflower tabbouleh.

Juicy, 28-day-aged cuts of premium British beef lead the impressive range of steaks and grills, and Cast Iron’s toffee & ginger skillet pudding offers an indulgent conclusion. Hand-picked wines are sourced from across the globe, and a list of heady cocktails includes mixes like the Old Cuban, and a pink-hued G&T.

Cast Iron Maidstone is surrounded by the opulence of the Tudor Park Marriott Hotel. Bearsted Rail Station sits 4 minutes’ drive away, and a smart dress code applies.

The restaurant is located inside the Marriott hotel and the hotel bar and lobby is quite elegant and has excellent mood lighting and plenty of space. The restaurant is well furnished, though on the night we visited it looked a little too spacious as I believe they had a buffet earlier in the day. The starter seemed overpriced for quantity, though quality was fine. The service was disappointing however - when my girlfriends food arrived they realised they had brought the wrong meal, but we had to ask for mine to be served at the same time (rather than let it go cold) - and judging by how dry the steak was, they had simply kept my plate warm rather than cook freshly. The card payment terminal wasn't working, so we had to walk to the hotel bar to pay. Generally noisy atmosphere given how few people were there (that was fine on my previous visit, however). I'm very unlikely to visit for food again. The hotel tried to put right by making the drinks FOC, and left us with an additional portion of chips.

We booked afternoon tea for our end of year team meeting. The service was faultless and the staff were very friendly. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were really lovely. We all commented on how much we enjoyed the afternoon and I will be recommending the experience to friends, colleagues and family.

We enjoyed our experience. The food was of a good standard for the price and the service was excellent. The only criticism was the crockery. For an afternoon tea it lacked finesse! Also, there was no choice of tea - only English breakfast was on offer, which was a pity.

I took my visually impaired friend for afternoon tea. We had a wonderful experience. Food and service spectacular. Made even more special by the staff all signing a birthday card and presenting it to my friend.
