Housed within the historic Signet Library, Colonnades serves a fine selection of afternoon teas in an elegant setting. Away from the bustle of the Edinburgh's Royal Mile, the venue is a quiet retreat where guests can enjoy a light lunch or a drink.

The Colonnades tea salon is located at the Lower Library and the interior is decked out with tall fluted Corinthian columns and neo-classical balustrades in the gallery. A list of classic and champagne cocktails, wines, beer and spirits are also offered.

Set in the heart of Edinburgh, Colonnades at the Signet Library is a 9-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Rail Station. Popular attractions like Edinburgh Castle and Scottish National Gallery are an 8-minute walk away.

We had a very lovely lunch. We all loved the ambience and the glass topped tables gave the dining experience that extra opulence. All the dishes we had were absolutely sublime with such attention to detail. The waiters were excellent and very pleasant. The music was light and fitted in well with the surroundings. Overall a wonderful experience. We were all reluctant to leave so we are looking forward very much to eating here again.

The food was beautifully presented and delicious with lots of different flavours. The service was excellent and great atmosphere. Lovely experience I'd be happy to repeat.

Enjoyed the wonderful ambiance. The sandwiches and savouries were delicious as were the cakes and scones and beautifully served. The tea however was disappointing. We all chose the Signet Blend. It was very weak and the teapot didn't keep it warm. We did have it replenished but found it still not a good cup of tea. I came home and brewed a pot using a Tetley tea bag. It was much mor enjoyable

We had a great meal (high tea) in a terrific location. Located in the city centre, the Signet Library reeks of history. The meal offers a selection of delicacies to suit all tastes from French cooking to English sandwiches. Served up as 4 courses and accompanied by unlimited tea and/or coffee by well trained staff, this was a lovely way to celebrate a birthday.
