Having held its Michelin star since 2002, Club Gascon serves dishes inspired by the cuisine of south west France. The revered Evening Standard restaurant critic, Fay Maschler, champions Club Gascon as ‘an absolute gift’.

With a commitment to the highest standards of freshness and authenticity, the Club Gascon menu journeys through complex and ground-breaking flavour combinations. Hailing from Toulouse, Head Chef Pascal Aussignac was named Restaurant Chef of the Year 2013 at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards.

Encouraging a serendipitous approach to dining, Club Gascon restaurant presents a selection of small dishes, allowing diners to sample an array of flavours. Favourite dishes include sea urchins delicacy, cauliflower & crisps, or crackled capon wings, scallop ballotine, nuts & lovage. Wines are sourced from the finest regions of south west France, and the cellar at Club Gascon near the Barbican compiles over 400 bottles.

Perched next to the produce-haven of Smithfield Market, Club Gascon restaurant in London is housed in the conversion of a former Lyons tea house. Barbican, Farringdon & St Paul’s Stations are all within a 5-minute walk.

This was our first visit to Club Gascon since its refurbishment last year. They've done a good job of brightening and extending the dining area, it's a very agreeable ambiance. The food remains top-notch (we took the four-course Star Deal which included a glass of the excellent Lallier champagne). It's a creative style of cooking with some novel touches (ants on your amuse-bouche, anyone?). We thought a couple of the dishes didn't quite work but they were all very interesting and very well executed. Professional service, a good wine list, a very pleasant dining room, and not too much noise (a major problem with many London restaurants nowadays).

We went to Club Gascon for an anniversary dinner and were really impressed. It was excellent value on the bookatable deal. They were exceptionally flexible when it came to dealing with my pregnancy and my partner's vegetarianism, basically allowing us to chose any 5 courses that would meet our dietary requirements, and the food was beautiful as well as delicious. The garden primavera that my partner ate was exceptional in its beauty and creativity and i loved the snails and lettuce that came with my skate. The use of vegetables across both the menus and flowers in the vegetarian menu was delightful. The amuse bouche, petit fours, champagne and excellent bread and butter made it extremely celebratory as well as delicious.

The menu was different from the one which was on the website. Some of dishes were good some were to exotic and some ingredients didn't work together too well.

Excellent; doesn't put a foot wrong for me. Clever ideas well-executed, doesn't try too hard. Wine list a particular joy if you look beyond the obvious. Service quiet and friendly.
