A classic wine merchant's bar close to the Barbican, City Boot boasts a tremendous selection of vintages served alongside hearty British recipes. This intimate London setting has vintage wine paraphernalia on the walls, dark stained wood throughout, and a cosy atmosphere.
Fresh seasonal ingredients are carefully sourced from local suppliers for the City Boot menu. To start, there are rustic treats like homemade soup of the day, and light options like duck liver pâté with toasted sourdough bread and pickled cucumber, onions and cornichon. Classic British favourites include fish and triple cooked chips with tartare sauce and minted pea purée, and there are inventive continental recipes like the vegetarian fennel and lemon risotto with ricotta and chilli. From the grill, there are succulent steaks from the famous British butcher Donald Russell.
A great selection of British cheeses is also served at City Boot in the City of London, which make perfect accompaniments for the vast wine selection. For those with a sweet tooth, there are puddings like treacle tart with clotted cream, and a selection of fortified and dessert wines.
Pairing fine wines with gourmet British recipes, City Boot is a 7-minute walk from Barbican Tube Station.

A warm welcome and excellent service - I had to wait a while for my lunch companion's arrival and the waiting staff stayed in touch without being pushy. Very goid balance of goid service without being everpresent. Excellent Rioja - wish I had ordered the bottle rather than four glasses! Excellent food, good price, lovely table. Goid experience. Highly recommend this restaurant.
