A take on the traditional Mexican market, the street food section of the menu features sweet chorizo croquettes, patatas bravas, and a flavour-packed Mexican frittata.

Sorry to say very disappointing.Waited 35 minutes for meal. Couple of dishes inedible . We have previously enjoyed many visits to this restaurant so it is a shame that the service level has dipped so badly.

I visited the Chiquito at Stevenage on a quiet Monday evening in July at around 7.30pm, and it was a disappointing evening. There was a lot of waiting around to be served our drinks and food and it wasn't at all busy in the restaurant. For example, waiting for 35 minutes between our starter dishes being collected and our mains being served, is poor. There was limited staff which explains why the service was inadequate but the restaurant wasn't full. The waitress took so long to bring the bill to our table after she had collected our dishes that I went over to the bar and settled it directly, and so did another customer. We didn't stay on to have dessert as it was coming up to two hours already so we left. The food wasn't as tasty as it used to be. Before the menu changed the food had flavour and the presentation was lovely. Not a place I'd go to in future or recommend.

A great evening with fantastic food and great service. Music was too loud at times.

The service was not great at all. very little staff. The food was not great at all, I ordered chicken and pulled pork, the chicken was still pink and had veins running through the whole thing. Had to send my meal back. I will not be returning.

Lovely décor, seemed nice and cool inside on a hot day. Restaurant was very quiet however we were led across a sticky floor to a table which hadn't been cleaned properly, it was sticky with rings from glasses. The salsa was terrible, inedible on it's own, very very spicy with excessive flavour of coriander. However mixed into the food it was ok, but it wasn't anything I couldn't make myself, think the pulled pork came from a tin. The toilets were hot, toilet paper on the floor it got stuck to my shoes, the toilet seat in my cubicle was only attached with one hinge and a yellow warning wet floor sign was positioned immediately inside the VERY heavy door so I almost fell over it. There was music playing in the toilet at a VERY loud volume, I could not have a conversation with my friend.

Pleasant enough greeting on arrival but not overly warm. We were seated at a table near an open door and even though I made a comment about being chilly, we weren't offered another table. I guess that's partly my fault, I should have actually asked to sit elsewhere.
The decor in the restaurant was lovely but the toilets were quite unpleasant, they stunk of dirty nappies, I get the impression it's a smell that's there all the time.
Our waiter was ok, nothing more, nothing less. Although I did feel a bit fed up with him at the end because we left a tip that was well over 10% (due to it being the easiest way to split the bill) and he didn't even say thank you.
Despite the fact that they weren't that busy we had a very long wait for each course. The starter was delicious but the main course was less appealing. I had the enchiladas and they were dry and tough to cut and way hotter than you would expect for the symble of two chillis. My friend had fajitas which looked lovely but were very awkward to manage as you make them up yourself and they didn't give her a spare plate, she had to do it all in the palm of her hand.
My overall impression of the place was that I won't be returning any time soon and I eat out quite a bit.

The food was OK but the service was extremely poor and given that there were very few customers there was no explanation as to why this was the case.
