Very good meal however was somewhat perturbed by the "voluntary" service charge and having had just one course this seemed excessive for the short amount of time we were there. Otherwise though it was very good and in particular the minute steaks were cooked to perfection.

Housed in the Chichester Festival Theatre, Minerva Bar & Grill serves modern British cuisine using seasonal, local produce. The Minerva Lounge and Brasserie offer drinks and light bites for pre and post-performance refreshment.

Start with Brighton blue cheese, fig, radicchio, and chicory salad with hazelnut dressing, or smoked mackerel mousse with horseradish crème fraiche and focaccia thins. Mains on the Minerva menu include slow-cooked shoulder of pork with mustard sauce, and Sussex beetroot tatin with goats’ cheese. Lighter options include a Mediterranean meze sharing platter, quiche of the day and a British cheese board.

Desserts at The Minerva Bar & Grill also feature local produce and include Sussex summer berry mess and steamed vanilla sponge with sticky bourbon sauce. Local beers and an extensive drinks list including English sparkling wine are also available.

Open to theatregoers and the general public alike, The Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre is a short walk from the city centre and a 7-minute drive from Chichester Train Station.

Pleasant enough meal although not many vegetables with main course but overpriced for what it was .Also not a very intimate atmosphere .Staff very attentive to the point of making us feel like we were not being encouraged to linger over our meal !

Not impressed. We gave 2 stars on their own feedback request. Very limited choice on the menu, in either of their restaurants. Indeed the menus are virtually the same in both. Food uninspiring. Minute steak tough. Really not value for money. Service, only ok ish. Biggest plus is that the restaurant is on the Chichester Festival Theatre site.

The staff were efficient and brought our food very quickly. The restaurant was noisy once it filled up with customers. The food was excellent but the portions were very small and not value for money. I chose a terrine but had one small crisp like item instead of the bread I expected. The main course was equivalent to a starter in local pubs. The food was delicious, well cooked and presented but it left you feeling hungry and dissatisfied. We did not plan to have a pudding but chose one just because we had been so hungry when we sat down and the previous two courses were so scant.

Having been to the theatre 3 weeks running and eaten in the Minerva Restaurant twice we decided for our third visit to eat in the Brasserie Restaurant only to find that the menu was the same as the Minerva but cheaper if you had two courses. We were expecting a different menu as we had exhausted the Minerva menu. Because the menu is repeated week after week and in both restaurants we will now consider eating elsewhere in Chichester should we again be at the theatre with such frequency. We always find the atmosphere, service and food very good in both restaurants, but with the same menu choice is now very limited and we will in future vote with our feet. We would recommend the restaurants to friends if it was a one off visit. However if regular theatre goers then I would say try out other restaurants in the city.

It is always a great pleasure to dine at the Brasserie, charming staff and great meals all carried out perfectly. Being gluten free there is always something to chose from and great advice from the chef. Thank you.

Excellent food and service. Very welcoming even though we were a bit early. Comfortable seating and pleasant surroundings.

We had a lovely meal before the afternoon performance. The service was efficient and the waitress was very friendly and helpful - the food was excellent, we look forward to our next visit

The Minerva Brasserie at Chichester Theatre is very good - I have eating problems so the "backstage" stage send me menus in advance so I can choose something suitable (which they point out). Some of the dishes, particularly the starters, are rather small but they are invariably delicious. I do wish, however, that they would stop putting stuff in jugs of water - lemon or cucumber. If I wanted lemonade or cucumber-flavoured water, I'd ask for it!

Fillet if mackerel starter was so small could barely find it on the large plate

My friend and I loved our visit. The Salmon dish my friend ordered looked lovely and my Chickpea dish was beautiful. We followed our mains with a ginger and rhubabrb rice pudding and sticky toffee pudding. Just gorgeous!
