Housed in the Chichester Festival Theatre, Minerva Bar & Grill serves modern British cuisine using seasonal, local produce. The Minerva Lounge and Brasserie offer drinks and light bites for pre and post-performance refreshment.

Start with Brighton blue cheese, fig, radicchio, and chicory salad with hazelnut dressing, or smoked mackerel mousse with horseradish crème fraiche and focaccia thins. Mains on the Minerva menu include slow-cooked shoulder of pork with mustard sauce, and Sussex beetroot tatin with goats’ cheese. Lighter options include a Mediterranean meze sharing platter, quiche of the day and a British cheese board.

Desserts at The Minerva Bar & Grill also feature local produce and include Sussex summer berry mess and steamed vanilla sponge with sticky bourbon sauce. Local beers and an extensive drinks list including English sparkling wine are also available.

Open to theatregoers and the general public alike, The Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre is a short walk from the city centre and a 7-minute drive from Chichester Train Station.

Very disappointing, such that we will find an alternative restaurant for pre Theatre dining in future.
Protests as follows :- prawn starter uninviting/ small portion highly priced. Slow cooked beef cold as was the replacement identical dish.
Only good part the Italian Pinot noir and the coffee

Our latest visit (last of several during the summer CFT season) was heralded by driving rain and strong winds. Inside, however, all was calm, and both the food and service was up to the standard that we always hope for. The 'autumn' menu was on offer, and sufficiently different from our two last visits. While the portions continue to be on the small side, the food itself continues to be very well cooked and presented. This standard has now been maintained since our first season visit back in May, which interested readers may recall was lacking in so many ways. We look forward now to more visits to the restaurant during the winter season.

we wanted to book upstairs because of the menu but it was closed. there was very little choice in particular on desserts my daughter asked for a latte coffee instead but you could only offer an Americano not even an Irish coffee very poor choice. I had beef my daughter had pork both very dry and not pleasant I shall not use the restaurant again

A very enjoyable meal but I do feel it is a little overpriced. As we were with an elderly uncle who cannot walk far, we were happy to eat in the Minerva for convenience but for choice, we would book a cheaper restaurant in town.
The presentation of the dishes was superb but the starters were too small in portion size as were the main dishes, especially in the portion of vegetables.
The wine choice was also expensive but that is not unusual for restaurants!

The food was excellent. I had the pickled cucumber and prawn starter. My main was the belly of pork, both were excellent. The surroundings are welcoming clean and smart.

super efficient service and great food, maybe the starters could be a little more generous? Lovely relaxed environment just right before a show.

Good selection of starters, mains and desserts and portion sizes adequate. A bread roll would have been a welcome inclusion in the set price lunch.

My daughter and I dined at The Brasserie before seeing Macbeth. The food was excellent, but the portions extremely tiny. We are not big eaters, so it seemed sufficient for us. Had our husbands been with us, however, they would have still been hungry. Normally, I cannot eat three courses, but on this occasion, as I was still peckish, I ordered a dessert. 15 minutes later it still hadn’t turned up and as time was running short we left without my having it.

We have dined several times in the Minerva restaurant since the menu has become significantly restricted. This will be our last visit until the menu is improved.

With all the ambience of a former BHS cafeteria the Brasserie and Minerva Restaurants was convenient for pre-theatre but the Steak and chips and a drink each were nothing special and better would have been available for a 10 minute walk from the theatre.
