Housed in the Chichester Festival Theatre, Minerva Bar & Grill serves modern British cuisine using seasonal, local produce. The Minerva Lounge and Brasserie offer drinks and light bites for pre and post-performance refreshment.

Start with Brighton blue cheese, fig, radicchio, and chicory salad with hazelnut dressing, or smoked mackerel mousse with horseradish crème fraiche and focaccia thins. Mains on the Minerva menu include slow-cooked shoulder of pork with mustard sauce, and Sussex beetroot tatin with goats’ cheese. Lighter options include a Mediterranean meze sharing platter, quiche of the day and a British cheese board.

Desserts at The Minerva Bar & Grill also feature local produce and include Sussex summer berry mess and steamed vanilla sponge with sticky bourbon sauce. Local beers and an extensive drinks list including English sparkling wine are also available.

Open to theatregoers and the general public alike, The Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre is a short walk from the city centre and a 7-minute drive from Chichester Train Station.

Due to likely parking problems before the show at CFT we decided to eat there rather than elsewhere in town but overall our birthday celebratory meal was uninspired. The menu choice was limited and ordinary. The one saving grace was the excellent and polite service given by the young waiters and waitresses.

Immaculate staff, service very efficient, food very good. A great experience

Delightful team of people serving seasonally apt, high quality food. With an immovable deadline, the start of a play, they manage to serve up excellent food in next to no time. We always dine here when on our annual trip to the Festival. We have always been impressed. Very good food at very reasonable cost.

Service exceptional. Food very good but exceptionally small portions small portions. The rump of beef was very dry and tough. Usually good but portion size has deteriorated.

The meal was served up very quickly and looked appetising. The young waiters and waitress were very attentive .
The ambiance could not be faulted.

The ambience was [pleasant, with wide use of soft fabrics on chairs and floor. However, at its peak, the room was very full of excited diners, so the sound level became quite elevated. The wait persons were numerous and did a good job - friendly and quick, which is key in presenting a pre-theatre meal.
Both our meals were well prepared; however, the salmon dish was a little dry and would have benefitted from a sauce of some kind; and the beef dish needed a few more potatoes. Both scored 4.5 out of 5 on my scale. The deserts were to die for - Creme brulee (?) and cheesecake. We enjoyed our meal.

Always enjoyable dining in the Minerva, such efficient staff, lovely food, good value. I completed the review produced with the bill and praised the Chefs for how they coped with so many covers in such a short space of time without detriment to the quality. However much 'prepping' is done in advance it still all has to be cooked. Only small comment is that the delightful desert that came in a tall glass came with its own problem. The seats are low, the table is quite high, so the glass had to be tipped (unless you are tall with long arms, and many aren't) in order to reach the contents. Perhaps shorter and rounder stemmed glasses would be better?
We were also surprised how noisy the restaurant is when full, but not a lot you can do about the acoustics. We have dined much earlier before, but then you don't get the same atmosphere when it is fairly empty, so it is perhaps a no win situation. However I thought it was worth mentioning for when you renovate in the future.

Although very crowded - almost full - there were lots of waiting staff so served promptly. The staff were all youngsters but very helpful, attentive and efficient. Agood experience.

Pre theatre lunch. Good service. Food well presented if a little overpriced. Very handy for theatre.

Tables were sticky. This was because of the very hot weather, not that they were dirty. But a tablecloth would have been a grand improvement. It's the little things they fail on.....
