Four of us had dinner at 6.30pm on a Friday. The food was of a very good standard. The venue is rather cramped and can get hot. Service is okay with pleasant staff who can now and again slip into being a bit surly.

We dined at lunchtime, and the restaurant was not overfull. The steaks were excellent and done exactly to oder. The waiter was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Our side dish of spinach was a little ungenerous though! Overall, a good example of what Chez Gerard can do very well: reliable food at reasonable prices (in the main). The prix fixe looked excellent value, incidentally, although we ate a la carte.
