We had a delicious meal at the Ceylon Tavern. We had a selection of freshly cooked 'tapas' style dishes which was a lovely way to sample the cuisine. Service was great - we will be back!

Taking its name from the ancient term for Sri Lanka, Ceylon Tavern in Dorking offers up traditional Asian cuisine in a chic, modern setting. An astonishing array of soups, curries and traditional Sri Lankan dishes are brought to life in the restaurant’s pristine open kitchen, while a neon-lit bar lends the cocktail lounge an exotic vibe.

Each of Sri Lanka’s nine provinces is represented on the extensive Ceylon Tavern menu. The spicy, aromatic rasam soup, and lamb or chicken Kothu rotti – a northern street vendor speciality featuring garlic, ginger and sautéed onions – are particular favourites.

Not only that, but every sumptuous devilled meat stir fry and Sri Lankan speciality can be complemented by one of the creative cocktails on offer at Ceylon Tavern in Dorking. Mojitos, martinis and margaritas are all mixed expertly by the resident mixologists.

Offering authentic Sri Lankan delicacies behind its vibrant, yellow-green façade, Ceylon Tavern is a mere 4-minute drive from Dorking West Rail Station.

We really enjoyed our meal here and we found all the spice blends for the different dishes distinctive and interesting, As we are accustomed to spicy food, when asked, about spice level, we said "as it would be done in Sri Lanka"; it was great. Our only slight reservation was that the duck in the signature dish main course was a bit dry and hard.

Service was excellent, efficient and friendly.
