Had afternoon tea to celebrate a belated mothers day. The selection of sandwiches & cakes were lovely. The scones were a little dense but acceptable. I asked for another pit of tea and the staff were very obliging. Overall very pleased

We enjoyed a celebration afternoon tea here a week ago and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was relaxing, service was excellent and sandwiches and cakes really nice. The team also very easily catered for our various dietary requirements. We would definitely go here again and will be looking into going here on other occasions.

A wonderful evening with a great welcome at reception and caring staff.
The meal was a delight, with a very attentive chef Nathan who took great care of dietary requirements. The food was delicious and well presented, he is obviously a perfectionist and talented.
The waiters were very attentive and caring but not rushing us at all which we appreciated.
    Would recommend eating here.

Delighted - very delicious afternoon tea, (with warm freshly baked scones) and copious cups of tea! Most importantly for me was the way the staff related to my very elderly and frail companion. We were met at the car and escorted in (and back out again), nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend!

We have visited Carriages Restaurant at Alveston House Hotel many times and have always been extremely pleased with the food and service. The service was again excellent but I had a few disappointments with the pre-ordered food. I had the chicken liver parfait which was hard and crumbly, not soft and smooth as expected and the sourdough bread turned out to be 4 small hard, crunchy and biscuit like. The desert was advertised as Chocolate Brownie, Blood Orange, Chocolate Sauce. There was no orange or chocolate sauce only a scoop of vanilla icecream and the brownie, instead of being light, moist and gooy in the middle was dry and crumbled into nothing, very disappointing !!! The main course of Salmon was delicious though. Have always raved about the food before so not sure what went wrong this time.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon tea with you on Monday. Everything was superb and a great selection of finger sandwiches, fresh scones and cakes. Can thoroughly recommend and will visit again in the future.

Good food overall, the veg could have done with a little more cooking ! There was not enough biscuits to go with the cheese. The cheese selection was good. Service was good, and the table looked attractive. We had to ask for water.

Good friendly staff and not too intrusive.
Food well prepared and just that bit special without being 'cheffy'
