The excellent dining experience started from the moment we walked through the door with a warm and genuine welcome. This approach carried on through out the evening. Coupled with excellent food and wine this made my wife's birthday very special

We met up again with friends at Caldesi in Campagna/ For all of us, it is a significant drive (1-2 hours) but well worth the journey. The occasion was most enjoyable, with friendly, welcoming staff and wonderful authentic Italian food. This time, my husband and I tried the Set Menu which is fantastic value, with all the same quality as the a la carte menu, just less choice, and served with the same professionalism and friendliness as on previous visits. We love it here!

The food is fine, as is the service. However, our expectation was that the food would be somewhat special and this was not our experience. While I have no complaints about the meal nor the service, the food was similar to what could be obtained from a decent local italian restaurant in Oxford except that Caldesi is at least twice as expensive as these restaurants. On this basis we were not particularly impressed.

The food was superb (especially the Calves Liver and the Italian Doughnuts) and the service was excellent. All round as good a dining out experience as I can remember.

Nice airy space with a cute enclosed garden at the back where we had a drink beforehand our meal.

Very impressed. Our first visit and it will certainly not be our last. The quality and presentation could not be faulted and the service was outstanding. Loved the pappardelle with the sausage ragu!

The decor is understated in this converted house, but we were warmly welcomed. Service was friendly, efficient, but not intrusive - well done! Timing of our seven courses was perfect, we felt neither rushed nor having to wait. Our meal opened with a complimentary amuse-bouche. Our first course proper was a salad of courgette flowers, followed by scallops. These were perfectly cooked but just three on the plate looked a bit meagre. Next we had sea bass ravioli; sometimes in pasta the filling is bland and tasteless, but not here. Our main course was veal stuffed with pecorino cheese in a well-balanced sauce. The dessert was a cheesecake with a cleansing blackberry sorbet. We finished with coffee and delicious petit-fours.
To cope with all these courses, we shared each course between the two of us; the waiters did not bat an eyelid and were very responsive. We drank two half bottles, a Gavi di Gavi and then a Barolo, both of which were well above average.
All-in-all we had a lovely evening.
