A stone's throw from both the Lyceum and Aldwych theatres, Café Rouge Wellington Street serves authentic French food in a prime London location.
Part of the UK-wide group of Café Rouge restaurants, a range of traditional French dishes such as steak frites, confit duck and beef bourgignon are on offer. Amongst the tempting lighter bites, try a tasty croque monsieur, breaded camembert with cranberry and redcurrant sauce, or a classic caesar salad. A good selection of French wines, many from lesser known producers, is on hand to accompany the dishes.
Breakfast at Café Rouge is also a classically French affair. Offering croissants, pain au chocolat and baguettes, as well as hot chocolate, tea and an array of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.
A popular choice for pre or post-theatre dining, Covent Garden Café Rouge also boasts outdoor seating which provides the perfect spot to watch the world go by.

We went for the set menu but found our first choices were not available, no mention was made when we were given the menus. Second choices were ok. Service was good.

Disappointing- starters unavailable: prawns; sharing board-anything with bread. We had telephoned restaurant to amend booking from 4 to 5 and front of house were unaware which was embarrassing for me and my guests. Starters did not arrive together. Waiters were doing their best; drinks were promptly served.

Lovely meal, good service, didn't have to wait very long for our meal to be served.

Good resturant example of a worthy chain, experience spoilt by overcrowding and bookings in excess of capacity. On arrival (on time with our booking), our family of four had to wait 10 minutes to be offered a table for three, 20 minutes longer to receive a drink and food on an hour from arrival. Staff friendly but over worked, food itself was very nice and new menu dishes an advantage.

Disappointed. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told our table was not ready (we had booked over a week in advance for a specific time) and they told us to go and come back in 20 mins. When we returned they prepared a table for us. We were given menus but told nothing of various dishes been unavailable now. So it was dissapointing when my first 2 choices were no longer available. Therefore I made my 3rd choice but noticed someone at another table enjoying what would have been my second choice, the muscles, perhaps if we had been seated at our chosen time......who can tell. Not what I was expecting for our meal out during a weekend away in London.

Arrived about 10 mins early no problem as there was 3 of us & sat at the same table we had on a previous occasion nice touch. Food was very enjoyable and good choice (we had the chicken).Well organised Staff considering how busy restaurant was.

Conveniently located near Covent Garden & several theatres. Nicely decorated, offering tasty food. I can recommend the Coq au Vin & Demi Poulet, deserts hard to choose finally decided on Elton Mess which was delicious!

Table was not available although booked in advance. Staff kept us waiting for 15minutes and not told us when we asked. Very poor.

Ordered the pulled beef burger, however they got the order incorrect and served the beef bourguignon. They were happy to swap it out for the burger. Unfortunately, the burger was soggy and bland at best. The salmon was okay, it was not fancy. The staff were very polite. We wend with the 50 percent off voucher and only found out this covered food at the end which was a little disappointing as it was not explicit in the fine print.
