In the heart of Sheffield, Café Rouge serves a fantastic range of French dishes. Diners can enjoy views of the town hall and Peace Gardens from the large al fresco dining area.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Retro paintings and photos adorn the walls, creating an authentic French atmosphere at Café Rouge – Sheffield Centre. Close to shops and theatres, Cafe Rouge is a 10-minute walk from Sheffield Rail Station.

We had an afternoon tea for 3. One of us is allergic to cheese and vegetarian and the staff adapted the food so her needs were catered for, without any fuss. The staff were great and very helpful, the food was delicious and the restaurant was clean and well set out.

Booking online is quick and easy. The service is polite and professional. My meal, the Demi Poulet, was cooked to perfection.

We have visited numerous cafe Rouge and always praised the full experience. Unfortunately on this occasion I would say we left very dissapionted with the whole experience. We was a party of 6 who booked our table well in advance .. when we arrived at 7 30 prompt we eas advised that our table was not ready, we was seated while we waited for 20 minutes at a made up area which was in the way of restaurant flow. When we was eventually seated we found out waiter to be not very friendly throughout, we was dissapionted to find at least 50% of the menu to be sold out. Having used cafe rouge many times we all had favourites from the menu ...again due to the lack of choice we all had to make do with food that was not what we wanted to eat .To be honest of other restaurant in Sheffield had nit been as busy we would have left . We ended up spending £240.00 .If I had not been a loyal customer I would not return to any Cafe Rouge, neither would I recommend to family or friends . Overall we left feeling very let down from the experience.

Went for a pre- show dinner on a value deal. The service and ambiance was very good and relaxing. The only minor issue we could mention was the expense of the glass of small wine we had - seemed a bit excessive - but maybe that's the norm for a city centre restaurant...?

i have to say the whole experience was thoroughly disappointing. The food was poor, alright, we were warned(?1) that the mussels were small but they were ridiculous, I wouldn't have put them on the menu and the sauce was devoid of any flavour. The pork rillettes starter was also tasteless. In their defence the staff were apologetic but I can't help feeling that they were used to it. Sorry.

i took the head girl to cafe` rouge on saturday we have decided to try every resteraunt in sheffield, cafe` rouge being number two, we arrived at seven and kieron the manager took us straight to our table, we looked at the menu, and kieron said they also had a offer of two courses for £12.95 we had a look and itwas quite a good little selection for the money, i opted for the smoked mackrel pate for starters really nice with some soft french bread, the head girl opted for the garlic mushrooms in a flaky pastry case which she assurred me was delicious, for mains the head girl had the pork schnitzel,( pork in bread crumbs) the meals where really good and tasty, unfortunatly the head girl is still recovering from treatment to her throat, so was unable to swollow the pork very well and had to leave it, our very nice waiter ISSAM must have told keiron the manager who came to our table to ask if every thing was o.k. with the meals, when i explained why the head girl could not eat the meal, he suggested some french onion soup with soft french bread, which she assurred me was delicious, we then had a sweet each this is extra, all in all we had a really nice meal, and the staff where really helpfull and attentive.
