Restaurant description

Set on Ruislip High Street, Café Rouge boasts a spacious dining area and hearty French cuisine. Full of character, the warm restaurant has original beams, red banquettes and cosy charm.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Just a 10-minute walk from Ruislip Tube Station for great links to central London, and perfect after a shopping trip along the high street, Café Rouge caters for lovers of all French cuisine.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Very friendly manager. Lovely meal. Wowcher made it a great deal for 2 courses. Great building. Have previously had afternoon tea here, which was nice too.

I made a reservation for four people and asked if possible, for a table in a corner. We arrived, stated that we had made a reservation, this was confirmed and then were told to sit anywhere we liked. I questioned this with the young lady who greeted us, who stated that no table had been reserved for us - so basically go find yourself a table. This was a Friday evening and the restaurant was very busy. There were only a few tables free, so the four of us ended up on a rather snug table - when there were couples sat at much larger tables clearly intended for four people. Having sat down, we were asked if we would like to order some drinks. Our bottle of wine took a good 15 minutes to arrive and then we had another wait before someone came to take our order. Fortunately when the food did arrive, it was very good. Unfortunately, our evening was let down by our table not being reserved and the fact that there appeared to be a lack of staff that seemed to make the waiters somewhat stressed, stern faced and overworked! I ask the question - what is the point of having reservation service if the staff do not use it? Furthermore, what would we have done if there were no tables available having made our reservation to eat at this restaurant over 2 weeks previous? Would I eat here again, yes - but only because the food was very good.

Cosy venue, lots of nooks and crannies, nice subtle background music. Had afternoon tea. Amazing croque monsieur with mushroom; scones, cream and jam, and cakes, strawberry and chocolate mousse - I mean, the whole lot was really fab! Green tea, lovely. Good service. Very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend, and will so be visiting again - next week actually!

Lovely looking restaurant inside and out with car parking attached. For a quiet Tuesday evening we expected a good, efficient service which it was not. The waiting staff took a long time attending to us, we had to go and find them to seat us. We prebooked which they didn't seem to know although it was empty. The food was average, we had had better elsewhere. Expensive for what we were served. Not going back to this one.

The food was lovely my only gripe is that they squash to many tables in there. Me and my boyfriend were on a table for 2 but had 2 other couples either side that were so close we could all hear each other's conversations which kind of took away from us having a nice meal for 2
