On the city’s majestic Grey Street, Café Rouge Newcastle offers timeless French classics with a modern twist. Scarlet banquettes and mahogany brasserie furnishings are dotted through the Parisian-style dining room.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is an important meal at Café Rouge in Newcastle . With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

A family favourite in the heart of the city, Newcastle Café Rouge is an 8-mintue walk from Newcastle Central Train Station.

One word to describe the visit and that is SUPERB. My wife and myself really enjoyed the experience and the meal, from firstly being greeted by a member of staff, with a smile, and shown to our table. You could feel the atmosphere and that was people enjoying themselves. Within minutes we had the Entrees brought to our table, then we received our Starters. A little time to digest and then the Sorbet arrived. Again time was given before the main course, which was Turkey, with relevant trimmings. This was delicious. At no time were we rushed. And then time for dessert. Very tasty indeed. In summarising we would do it again.

Did not get what was advertised or what we booked. Dishes on th autumn and Christmas menu were not available as advertised. How can this be on a pre Christmas Saturday at 6.30pm! Felt conned into buying from main menu and ended up paying £60 more than had anticipated

This was a belated birthday celebration..and we weren't disappointed. Staff couldn't have been more polite! A lovely young man showed us to our table, from then on we were served by a young lady who was an absolute delight! We both ordered steaks and they were, individually, cooked to perfection. We ordered starters and sweets too - all top quality nosh. Would definitely return, in the future.

Not overly impressed here, food is average. Croquettes starter was slightly cooked too long which made them dry, prawn starter was cooked on the shell in oil and although tasty made it too hot to peel. our mains, crape au four were blend. Wine list ok and priced reasonable.....
