Cafe Rouge Maidstone brings authentic French favourites to the picturesque town centre. Much-loved for its continental cuisine, Café Rouge has been a firm family favourite since 1989.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes also offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is an important meal at Café Rouge Maidstone. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

A cosy setting filled with brasserie-style furnishings and elaborate French artwork, Café Rouge restaurant is 8 minutes’ walk from Maidstone East Rail Station.

great restaurant with good food, service was a little slow but they also didn't hover over you trying to rush you either so beggars cannot be choosers.

This was not our first visit to Cafe Rouge but unfortunately the speed of service has not improved. When we arrived there were only 4 people in the restaurant but we had to wait 15 minutes for a bottle of sparkiling water and a lime+soda. We lunched in the restaurant before going to the cinema and eventually asked for coffee and the bill when we ordered dessert to ensure we got to the film on time. The fishcake was bigger than expected. It was tasty but nothing special. Skinned tomatoes in the salad made a nice change. The goats cheese and beetroot tarte was very tasty. We might eat here again but not with the intention of doing something afterwards.

Great starter and good service but dull after that. Over priced.

The sea bass and the haddock main courses were excellent, but the desserts were not great. The Eaton Mess, nothing like it should be and the crepe in a basket? again not a crepe! Suggest the chef goes back to the recipe book for these.
