With a combination of delicious food, great wines and a real ambience, Café Rouge has embodied the style and je ne sais quoi of French dining since it opened way back in 1989. Now with over 90 sites across the country it's just the place to mull over the morning papers with a cafe au lait and a croissant, pop in for a spot of lunch, share a post-work drink or relax over an evening meal.

The menu covers a range of French classics from croques and baguettes, ideal for a quick and easy snack, to more substantial fare such as steak frites and boeuf bourguignon. Likewise, the wines are predominately French; many made by lesser known producers, and provide the perfect accompaniment to the food on offer.

No hassle, no rush, no skinny- decaff-double-shot-to-go, just a vibrant atmosphere that moves with your moods throughout the day,

We dined at lunch time. WE waited about 25 minutes for a drink. we lokked for and found our own menu's. Our first meeting with waitress was a good 15 minutes after we arrived. I ordered a childrens meal deal for my child. She never received a drink or the dessert. About two and a half hours later we left. I was so upset at such a poor service and meal generally. Please don't go to this restaurant if you want a nice day. It ruined our day trip to Liverpool. It was a Fawlty Towers Experience, without the laughs.

we dined at 17.30pm on a Thursday. Restaurant was very quiet. Set within met quarter in Liverpool so a little out of the way of the most popular areas but well worth a visit. Very pleasant staff. Lovely decor and clean toilets, but accessible upstairs. Only disadvantage is that there did not appear to be any disabled toilets on the ground floor.

We ate at 7.30pm, lucky we booked as it was very busy for a Monday. The food was good, we have eaten at several Cafe Rouge's in the past and the food was up to standard. The staff were efficient and friendly. The only negative is that we always have to order and pay for extra bread as they never seem to give you enough. Being a French restaurant I would expect bread to be freely available.

The nights at this restaurant are an ideal time to visit if you want attentive service. The staff are amazing at making you feel like a valued guest. We've become regulars, visiting at least once a week. The welcome is genuinly warm.

We booked for 5.30pm as it was a Saturday and we were going to the pictures afterwards.Very glad that we did as others that arrived at the same time were told there would be a 40 minute wait!I think this indicates how popular a place it is.
