The staff were excellent, food not good. Mussels were poor.

We chose a very wet day to go to Leicester shopping but we were pleased we had something to cheer us up at Cafe Rouge! It was our first visit to this restaurant and found the staff extremely pleasant, and when our meal finally arrived it was worth the wait. It was a little cool where we were dining but I'll put this down to the fact that I was already soaked and feeling a chill. The dish we chose was 'Rouge Burger' a 6oz Black Angus beef burger in a toasted brioche bun with frites. Enjoyed every bite

We ordered the beef , lamb and fish. I found my beef ok but could have been more tender. The lamb although it did say it would be pink was very very pink not how we would have preferred it. Fish was tasty and served with nice bread. The lemon tart dessert was good and the eaton mess. Overall portions could have been more generous. Wines were nice. Service good.

Great staff but the salad Nicoise was awful, the tuna tasted burnt and I sent it back, I was given another complimentary salad and refunded.

Good food, poor service. Ordered 2 starters, mushrooms & snails. Brought out mushrooms but only taster pot of snails. Queried this & was taken away & 15 mins later after asking again was replaced. Then 30 mins later after asking again mains were delivered. It was a sat night but the restaurant was half full. The mgr took £18 off the bill altho we were charged for the 3 starters? With so much completion around the highcross area & the revitalised st Martyn's sq this restaurant is losing its way.
