Esher Café Rouge has an elegant yet cosy interior where French dishes are served, and Esher Rail Station is within easy walking distance of the restaurant.
As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.
In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.
Close to the centre of Esher, Café Rouge is within easy reach of Sandown Park Racecourse.

The staff were lovely and really helped make my friends birthday a big success. I'm glad that they allowed me to bring in the birthday cake which was a great surprise to my friend. Lovely food and service overall. The child portions were good too. Thanks!

Very slow service. Disappointed in the quality of food. Afternoon tea was served as a cup of hot water with a tea bag on the side. No tea pot! Dirty cutlery on the table.

Having visited this restaurant and other branched on numerous occasions we know the menus and what to expect. However on this occasion, whilst we have no fault with the food, we did have a considerable wait for both courses. Initially being told that our starters had been taken by waitress for another table. The main course had a similar wait. It almost felt that our order had not been processed. One of the dishes when it came was missing part of an ingredient . We did receive complimentary coffee as an apology

We have been to this restaurant several times before. The food is very expensive but discount vouchers are always available which makes them reasonable. I usually have the sirloin steak and this time I encouraged my wife and daughter to have the same. We asked for medium rare. Mine and my daughter's were ok-ish but my wife's steak was so tough it was inedible. We sent it back and the waiter admitted that they had a lot of problems with the quality of the meat that day. By the time my wife's replacement steak came my daughter and I had finished our meals so the occasion was ruined ( it was two of our birthdays). The replacement steak was tender and enjoyable and that highlighted the fact that although my daughter and I had eaten our steaks the quality of them by comparison to the replacement had been poor. The steaks were £19.95 each and without requesting it we were given a £15 reduction on the price of the meal which we accepted but in reality it should have been more.
