The South London suburb of West Dulwich is the setting for Dulwich Café Rouge, a French bistro-style restaurant with private outdoor terrace.
As part of the renowned nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch serves their signature range of French cuisine including deep-fried camembert, mussels, beef bourguignon and steak frites. Lighter dishes such as baguettes are also available for a smaller meal. The set menus, available most days for lunch and dinner, are especially good value for money. To accompany the food is a good range of French wines.
In addition, as you would expect from a French restaurant, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. Omelettes, pain au chocolat, croissants and croques, together with hot chocolate, tea and various coffees, make a great start to the day.
With a handy location only a short walk from West Dulwich train station, Café Rouge Dulwich makes a great choice for a French meal out morning, noon and night.

Very quiet for a Sunday, quite chilly as nearly empty, yet we were sar near the door! Food was fine, we had a Groupon for 4, steak chips and drinks, so good value. Service ok, bright lighting, ambience lacking, but ok for lunch with the kids. Steaks cooked to order, service a little slow for a near empty restaurant!

The front of house staff are friendly and efficient, they are probably the best thing about this branch of Cafe Rouge at the moment. Starter of Legume Croqettes was ok as was the Salmon Rillettes but unfortunately it was served on a wooden board the size of a postage stamp. We both opted to have a classic french dish of Confit de Canard with Dauphinoise Potatoes - sorry but it was an overcooked scrawny duck leg with a slab of dauphinoise that bore more of a resemblance to a house brick than the lush silky softness of cream and potato that it should have been. We really like Cafe Rouge and the one we visited is usually much better than this. Maybe we'll stick to salads next time. Oh and the ladies toilet really needs an update!
