Off Chichester’s main shopping street, Café Rouge serves delicious bistro-style French cuisine in an inviting authentic French venue. Chichester Train Station is a 5-minute walk away.

As part of the nationwide chain of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Offering al fresco dining, Café Rouge – Chichester is within walking distance of the stunning Chichester Cathedral.

We meet friends here twice a year as it is central (about45min drive for each) to catch up on news etc. It is always excellent and we never feel we have to rush and leave table. It has the ambience of several French restaurants in Paris. I much prefer Chichester to the Gunwharf restaurant in Portsmouth.

Waited ages for drinks; sirloin steak tough; served cold chips which were sent back. Was once good now awful. It seems people are voting with their feet as on a Saturday evening there were only 4 other covers. Will now avoid. No tip left accordingly.

Only problem experienced was that the main meal was served before we had finished the starter.

Good service, tasty food, but feel vegetables are lacking in a lot of the choices.

The service was very prompt and all the waiters were friendly and helpful. The bar displays and classical french music set a relaxed ambiance to the evening.

Always a consistently good dining experience, helped by accepting Tesco vouchers which with 5 children is a big help.

7.30 did not expect such young children in there at that time, next time we will book for later. Great service

Good dining experience overall. Would go back as menu interesting. Desserts a little on the small side but very nice.
