Serving brasserie food in the centre of town, Café Rouge in Cheltenham replicates the unhurried style of a French bistro. Ornate chandeliers and antique-style lamps lend light to the cosy dining room and bar, while the outside terrace is the perfect place to watch the world go by as you dine.
As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as deep-fried camembert, baguettes, steak frites and mussels. There are also lighter dishes if you don't have much time to spare. The set menus for lunch and dinner (on certain days) are excellent value for money. There is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.
In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.
Chocolate ganache or apple tarte tatin make indulgent desserts, while a great range of children’s options is sure to please younger diners. Café Rouge Cheltenham is open early until late, centrally located on The Promenade.

The vegetarian selection could be better as it was quite restrictive if you didn't want cheese for both starter and main course. However, the food tasted lovely and the service was excellent. It is quite pricey though.

We turned up early for our reservation but they still found a table for the four of us. Our order was taken very promptly, and the food arrived quickley with the childrens food being at the perfect temperature not too hot for them too eat.

Took my mother for her 70th birthday meal. Food was excellent, as was the wine. Particularly recommend the duck. Had to wait a while for the main course but, then again, you can't rush perfection! Only minor point was that the lighting was a little bright for evening dining. If muted a bit it would have had much more of a romantic atmosphere. Still, this was not too much of a problem since we were celebrating my mothers birthday! Highly recommend Cafe Rouge. Many thanks for a great evening.

Very good evening but we were overcharged and had to call the next day for a partial refund.
