In Bristol Cribbs Causeway shopping centre, Café Rouge offers a delectable array of French dishes. With red banquettes and authentic art, Café Rouge has a traditional Parisian atmosphere.

As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Close to ample free parking at Bristol Cribbs Causeway, Café Rouge is ideal for a quick snack between shops, or for a more hearty evening meal.

Wasn't very impressed at all, my friend and I had an afternoon tea booked, firstly the waitress looked like she couldn't be bothered, she bought our prosseco, coffee and water all at the same time, and the afternoon tea, well the toasted sandwiches were so hard around the edges we couldn't it and the scones were over cooked, burnt and hard. When we complained about it she just said oh sorry. It was a very dissapointing afternoon we've had far better afternoon teas elsewhere. We won't be going there again.

Immediate attention on arrival with very pleasant waitresses. Good choice of special spring Menu and I particularly liked the smoked mackerel pate, well presented. My choice of rump steak was perfectly cooked and really tasty with lovely crispy chips. My husband had the pea and mint soup which was delicious followed by the pork which was well cooked. Too full for a dessert but we did have a coffee . The service was excellent throughout. Definitely worth another visit.

Food was tasty, however the ambiance left a little to be desired as it is part of the shopping mall. My meal was a little cool as well

My friend and I had the set lunch menu. She liked her French Onion soup, followed by the minute steak and frites. However, I had the croquettes and the salad with goat's cheese. I felt that both dishes were bulked out way too much by the lettuce and the pea shoots rather than the other ingredients so I got the impression that this was to make the dishes appear good value and of good size. There was hardly any goat's cheese on the salad. The berry lemonade hadn't even been stirred so the flavouring was at the bottom of the glass.

There was confusion on arrival. Two of our party, arriving together, were seated at one table and two at another - only one name had been used in booking.
First courses of Onion Soup -'delicious'; and sharing platter or fromage et charcuterie in which the charcuterie was interesting and good, but the fromage was done to death.
Mains - a quiche 'good but not much of it'; supreme of chicken - 'dry and seriously overcooked'; moules marinière - 'big portion and freshly cooked, but I've had better'. In all cases the 'frites' were rather tired.
Desserts - Crème Brulée - 'excellent': salted caramel parfait - 'really not very nice'; Rum Baba - 'a disappointment'.
Service excellent. We had a 50% off voucher which made the meal good value at £15 a head but the idea of paying the full price just would not appeal.
The overall impression was that one is paying high prices for a pretty low location and comfort, with food that could be better cooked. Personally I would not return without another voucher.
