Restaurant description

With a sunny garden terrace and cosy interior, the Blackheath Café Rouge French restaurant is just down the road from the train station and very close to the heath.

The windows reaching from the ceiling almost to the ground shed a lot of light on this restaurant, part of the popular UK-wide group of Café Rouge restaurants.

This branch serves their classic range of French dishes including confit duck, mussels, beef bourguignon and steak frites, as well as lighter dishes if you just want a lighter bite. There are also excellent value set menus for lunch and dinner (on certain days). To wash it all down is also a selection of good French wines, many from smaller producers.

In typical French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge Blackheath. What better way to start the day than with croissants, pain au chocolat, a baguette or an omelette, accompanied by hot chocolate, tea and various types of coffees.

Good experience overall, service was friendly if a little slow. Very Good with the children. Disappointing that they don’t have any alternative to cows milk to have with coffee!! How backward...
