Set apart from the surrounding shops by its red frontage, Café Rouge Bath serves a delicious array of French dishes. In the heart of Bath, Café Rouge is within walking distance of the Roman Baths.
As part of the nationwide group of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.
In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.
With its glorious red banquettes and high ceilings, Café Rouge – Bath is perfect for a pre or post-theatre meal. Theatre Royal Bath is a 5-minute walk away.

Overall a very poor dining experience - so poor that the restaurant didn't charge us for our dine. VERY slow service although the restaurant was not busy, the food wasn't of a good standard, luke warm, steak over cooked, all in all a very disappointing experience.

Food was lovely, staff were very friendly. Main course was taking a bit longer so we had to chase it up.

Can’t fault this restaurant. Dined here with a friend on a visit to Bath. The service was fine, the waiter was friendly and polite. Our meal was very nice but fairly basic. We had the Beetroot tartin followed by the chicken. Although the restaurant was quiet at the time i do wonder if they would have coped had it been busy. Good value.

Five of us eating, soup wasn't very hot but still palatable. Three of us had chicken and when asked by the waiter is everything was ok I said they were luke warm. He did offer to replace them but that would mean two of our party would be eating without us. He offered us a free drink each but we had a bottle of wine to drink. The waiter said he would take the beers from the bill, which turned out to be two drinks when there were five drinking. Not very happy with the poor outcome.

Always a lovely place to visit. We chose from the 2 course £12.95 menu. Enough options for everyone and well cooked. The 7 year old we had with us loved the Children’s Menu and it great value. The staff were all very helpful and our table server seemed a little unfriendly at the beginning but our 7 year old soon melted her and she even got him some extras on his ice cream. We visited on our way to the Theatre Royal panto, as we have done for a number of years now and it just makes it a very special Christmas treat.

I booked ahead as I was going to use Tesco Clubcard vouchers. I choose a time which was 1.30 pm and up popped up an offer 2 courses for £12.95. When we arrived at the restaurant the offer was not available so we had to choose from the Menu which was considerably more costly £16 each for the Boeuf Boug and £14.95 for the Bouillabisse. As a starter we choose olives and plateau ode Pain costing £3.70 and £3.95. The cost of the food was £54.60 for 3 instead of £38.85. I asked the waiter if we could choose from the Menu but we charged for the offer. He checked with the Manager who regrettably declined.
