I have severe food intolerances but this was no problem at all for the Café. They made a vegetarian glutenfree afternoon tea for myself and a lactosefree afternoon tea for my partner. The food was very tasty and the service was friendly and quick.

I treated my Mum and I to afternoon tea and we were not disappointed. We both had plenty of delicious cakes, sandwiches and desserts to eat as well as an endless supply of tea/coffee. The staff were helpful and friendly and we were placed in the 'Snug' which was next to the busy restaurant, so it made the experience relaxing and altogether really enjoyable. Thank you for also catering for Coeliacs!

We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea in the beautiful surroundings of Cafe Portrait. The service was very friendly and attentive and staff were keen to ensure we had everything we needed. The afternoon tea was superb and there were so many delicious treats to enjoy. One of our party is Coeliac and this was easily catered for with impressive gluten free substitutes. We would highly recommend a visit and we'll definitely be back very soon.

Afternoon tea for 4 people. Surroundings were nice, food not at all value for money at nearly £18 per person. The cream for the scones was NOT clotted and had gone sour!! When mentioned to staff I was told "well there have been 12 afternoon teas today and this is the first I've heard!" No apology or sympathy at all! Very disappointed indeed.

The good was average. Scone felt dry. Salmon sandwich was too lemony for our taste.

    All other food was good.

We felt the service could've been better. No one came to see if we wanted any more drinks etc. The staff member who asked for our voucher was seemed a little curt, however this might have been due to language differences. Overall we enjoyed the day and very grateful to office staff for extending voucher end date.

We chose to have afternoon tea here as an early mother's day treat. We were disappointed to find on arrival that the tea is served in the small side room and not the bright and airy main dining room. There was not a nice atmosphere.

We were not given a menu so were unaware of what we were getting but an array of sandwiches, scones and cakes arrived promptly and was beautifully displayed. The sandwiches were okay but very bland and not very imaginitive- seriously, cream cheese and cucumber!. The scones were good but it wasn't real clotted cream, just whipped. The cakes left a lot to be desired though, each one was far too sweet and lacked any flavour, except for the salted caramel cheesecake which tasted entirely of salt!

Overall, we were very disappointed in the experience and it was very poor value at £30 for two. We noticed we weren't the only ones who left unsatisfied as the table next to us left promptly, leaving half the cakes wasted on the table.

Our Afternoon Tea was a Christmas gift voucher. On arrival we were a bit concerned that, as the cafe seemed very busy and noisy, we would not have a seat booked but the booked area is to the rear of the cafe and much quieter. We were shown to our table by a very pleasant lady who explained everything and brought us our afternoon tea that was exceptionally well presented. All the food was explained and was very tasty. She kept returning to make sure we were happy and if we required any more tea. A nice touch. All in all a very pleasant experience made more so by the very nice lady who attended to us (sorry I did not get her name).
