Excellent service and ambience. Food here is utterly fresh, made to order and piping hot. Soups change daily and are wonderful with bread, oatcakes or a scone. Cakes to die for as so good. Very popular so try and book.

Inside the iconic Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Café Modern Two is a stylish eatery that boasts period features, mirrored ceilings, and even sculptures from the gallery itself. Wholesome lunches and traditional afternoon teas are paired with a carefully crafted wine list.

The Café Modern Two menu focuses on wholesome, flavourful European recipes for its lunch menus. Fresh focaccia sandwiches are generously filled, while mains include lightly chargrilled salmon with fresh greens. Warming soups are popular choices, and antipasti platters of cured meats and delicate cheeses are perfect for groups to share.

Afternoon teas at Café Modern Two in Edinburgh are wonderfully traditional, and include warm scones with jam and clotted cream, loose leaf teas, fingers sandwiches, and sweet treats like mini redcurrant and almond cakes.

A tranquil, stylish spot to refuel whilst browsing the galleries, Café Modern Two is moments from the Water of Leith, and only 15 minutes' walk from Haymarket Train Station.

First, Inwas given the wrong type of soup, it was sent back and correct soup arrived, it was sent back as it was cold, I had ordered a cheese scone with soup, it never arrived. Cakes disappointing. Coffee excellent.

Very poor service - really spoils this nice place - indifferent, inattentive, can't be bothered attitude. Service means serving!

Food and service was good but fishcakes were burnt. They were replaced when we raised it with the staff. Probably shouldn't have been served in the first place.

Waiters were very friendly and efficient. Good choice of salads and light eats for lunch. Tea and coffee good and good range of cakes.

Meal was absolutely delicious, as always. This was my fourth visit this year, and I've never had a bad experience. Food is freshly prepared with quality ingredients and has exciting flavour combinations. It is particularly good for vegetarians. I had the mushroom risotto on this occasion - scrumptious - but have previously enjoyed the excellent haloumi salad. The surroundings are excellent and the staff efficient, although the 'A' team who are normally on duty were not present for this visit and their substitutes were not quite so effortlessly professional. Overall - highly recommended. Food far better than at the main National Gallery, in my opinion.

Food good. Maybe salmon pâté a little on the small site? Soup delicious. Also croque Madame. Took some time to get water to the table.
