Set in the beamed hall of a 15th Century house beside Canterbury's historic Westgate, Cafe Belge must be the only café whose kitchens are inside a former Lloyds Bank vault! Being a Belgian bistro mussels appear in both steaming bowls and platters of half open mussels grilled with a wide range of toppings. Starters like their Deli Cold Fish Platter of smoked fish, herring, prawns and crab lead into a good range of mains such as Rosemary's Chicken with fennel, wine, cream, brandy, rosemary and caraway seeds. The Pik n Mix menu has a range of smaller portion dishes some drawn from the main menu and with over 100 Belgian beers to choose from decisions could be tough or simply indulge in their Toblerone Fondue with marshmallow and fruit dippers.
