Restaurant description

A sleek hideaway in the West End, Busaba Eathai Covent Garden presents modern Thai dining founded by acclaimed restaurateur Alan Yau. Dine at funky communal-bench seating in the minimalist, softly-lit dining room.

The Busaba menu packs bold flavours into an array of stir-fry, curry, soup and noodle dishes. Discover the likes of fried chicken stir-fry with lemongrass, shallots and sweet chilli sauce, massaman duck curry with peanut, star anise and cinnamon, or a classic pad Thai with king prawns, shrimp, beansprouts and lime. From the grill, try salmon fillet with baby spinach and coconut rice, or beef sirloin with a spicy tamarind sauce.

A considered selection of drinks at Busaba Covent Garden is on hand to complement the full range of flavours. Exotic soft drinks include jasmine smoothie with passion fruit, banana, orange and natural yoghurt, whilst aromatic teas and international wines are also on offer.

Found within one of London’s buzziest areas, Covent Garden Busaba Eathai is just a minute’s walk from Covent Garden Tube Station.

Not impressed with the service here- was left waiting to be seated for 10 minutes and then I had to get up and ask a waitress to take our order after waiting for a further 25 minutes, drinks also took a long time to arrive once ordered. They had a brief incident with their fire alarm when I arrived but this was resolved after a few minutes and shouldn’t have had an impact on our dining experience and there was no excuse for being ignored at our table. We were also sat upstairs with a big group celebrating an engagement, we felt like we were crashing their party. They should have really been given the upstairs area exclusively for their celebration. Won’t be going back to this branch.

Great food, speedy pre-theatre service, a little more space on the shared table would have been a bonus.

Have eaten here before with no problem but service this time was terrible. After 15 mins at our table no one had come to take our order - I had to go and find a waitress to come over to take our order. 15 mins after ordering still no drinks or snacks had arrived - when I complained to waitress she said "food takes 25 mins, this isn't a fast food place". I said I realise that, but it doesn't take 25 minutes to pour 2 drinks and bring a bowl of prawn crackers! Prawn crackers finally arrived - "sorry we've run out of sweet chilli " how can a Thai restaurant run out of sweet chilli? Starter and main courses arrived together and portions were a good size but we didn't have time to enjoy or finish them as we had a theatre performance to get to before 7.30. Thoroughly disappointing dining experience!!
