We lunched at Bumbles after we had visited Buckingham Palace, so glad that we booked in advance. the restaurant was full. We opted for the £[$] menu and the starters were all praised by the members of the group who were very suprised by the standard of the food and it's presentation. As for the main course most of us had chosen the fish and chips, I am not a fan of battered fish but I have to say this was the an eye opener. The fish was very white and very fresh and the batter was light and crispy the chips were really tasty.Puddings were great as well. All round a great experience. Would recommend to any other groups as somewhere to go for great food and great value.

I took a friend out for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The table was booked for 7 p.m. We were led downstairs to the basement area where it was a lot quieter than upstairs. We and another couple pretty much were the only diners for the rest of the evening. It was pretty good value for money - there was a [$] 3 course menu with fairly reasonable choices; an 8-course tasting menu costing [$] per head. We opted for the 3-course deal which was [$] per head, though some of the choices on this menu required supplement charges. Both our starters were great - my friend had lasagna with prawns and snails whereas I had foie gras with orange and pomegranate and waffle. Our main courses sounded interesting - friend had sea bream with pork and mine was spiniach and mushroom wellington with truffle sauce and chips - unfortunately the taste was not as good.We pushed on with puddings anyway - I had meringue and friend had choclate fondue. He liked his and I did not like the plum sauce that went with mine.I liked the little touches like, between the starters and main course we received little shot glasses of a creamy soup, and just before deserts we got complementary macaroons and chocolate truffles.Overall it was a postive experience.

5 of us had the [$] 3-course meal which was excellent value as the starters and mains were lovely, only ice cream for dessert though without a supplement. The menu seemed to change throughout the evening which was a bit confusing as the later menus (which we received when ordering dessert) looked to have nicer mains than the ones on the original menu! They were a bit unreasonable to refuse when one of us asked to swap a dessert for a second starter, but this was understandable given how cheap the deal is, and the drinks are reasonably priced too. Would recommend if you like the look of the set menu, and there were some delicious looking options on the a la carte menu.
