Restaurant description

Set within one of London’s most famous buildings, Bryn Williams at Somerset House offers modern British dining, serving seasonal dishes where the fruit and vegetable components take centre stage. With a relaxed and contemporary environment, Somerset House’s creative community is at the restaurant’s core – reflected through the food, service and design.

The menu has a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. Seasonal mains include roast young broccoli with olive tapenade and sage beignet, and scorched Cornish mackerel with char-grilled leeks, Burke Brown egg and morel mushroom. Continuing the veg-centric theme, a range of salads are also offered, as well as signature, fruit-heavy desserts such as poached rhubarb and blood orange trifle.

The restaurant is Williams’ second London opening, adding to a portfolio that includes Odette’s in Primrose Hill, where he has held the position of chef patron since 2008.

A stone’s throw from the theatres of London’s Aldwych, find Bryn Williams at Somerset House a 4-minute walk from Temple Tube Station.

On Sundays the restaurant is available for private hire.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch date- a Bookatable Special - but a very good meal with great care paid to allergens so different sauces were made to accommodate my problems . Friendly service and a quiet dining room where we could talk and hear each other! Views over the river/ South Bank and proximity to post lunch attractions were noted for future lunches . Diolch yn fawr! Anne Beck

Lovely venue and helpful staff with great customer service. We arrived early for drinks and it was busy in the bar. The restaurant was quiet. The food was good, we chose from the 3 course set menu. In the end we only had 2 courses.

Not very impressed with the menu, l had the scotch egg with tarragon mayo it was okay, curried cod and mussels for main, the fish was nicely cooked, but overall it lacked flavour, cheese board to finish the bread was very sweet. Wont be rushing back any time soon.

The restaurant was quiet despite this the service was abysmal, there were only 3 items in each menu section yet staff couldn't answer simple questions like what is the chicken? Just chicken, no idea what cut, how it was cooked etc. What is Haford Cheese..........I think it's a British it soft, hard, blue, goats etc had to go away and come back to say it was like cheddar. The Proseco included in the menu was given to us half way through our starters.....we had to ask for it. Wine ordered during the main course was delivered when we'd practically finished eating. Food was very good but portion sizes quite small.

Good service and nice restaurant ambiance. Food was good but not really set up for vegan/lactose intolerance. No lactose/vegan dessert option which was a shame as there is quite a high percentage of the population who can't eat dairy.
