Restaurant description

Set within one of London’s most famous buildings, Bryn Williams at Somerset House offers modern British dining, serving seasonal dishes where the fruit and vegetable components take centre stage. With a relaxed and contemporary environment, Somerset House’s creative community is at the restaurant’s core – reflected through the food, service and design.

The menu has a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. Seasonal mains include roast young broccoli with olive tapenade and sage beignet, and scorched Cornish mackerel with char-grilled leeks, Burke Brown egg and morel mushroom. Continuing the veg-centric theme, a range of salads are also offered, as well as signature, fruit-heavy desserts such as poached rhubarb and blood orange trifle.

The restaurant is Williams’ second London opening, adding to a portfolio that includes Odette’s in Primrose Hill, where he has held the position of chef patron since 2008.

A stone’s throw from the theatres of London’s Aldwych, find Bryn Williams at Somerset House a 4-minute walk from Temple Tube Station.

On Sundays the restaurants is available for private hire.

I had the soda bread, crab starter, Hake mains & ice cream & vanilla cheesecake dessert - all excellent & well presented. The Sauternes dessert wine was fabulous. Restaurant casual and comfortable.

Very good food, as expected. We liked the emphasis on vegetables. Seasoning and flavours were spot on.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and service was efficient. The best features include the location and the dining rooms, all very picturesque. My boyfriend and I chose a number of different brunch dishes, all very pleasing on the eye and packed full of flavour. The potato waffle was extremely nice, nothing like any waffle I have tried before, the consistency was interesting and flavours were delicious. The banana pancakes were heavenly, and the caramelised banana that comes on the side was a delightful addition. It is evident how much thought has been put into each dish and all in all it was a lovely brunching experience.

Very pleasant staff, service was good. we booked for 8pm. The atmosphere and lighting suggested it was more suited to lunch diners, and by our main course we felt they were ready for use to leave . The starter and desserts were excellent. Our main course was unremarkable and the plates cold and hence our meal was not hot, which was a shame

Good experience (7.5/10) - pasta was very good and the lamb was tender, chocolate fondue with peanut butter was also great. Overall good but not exceptional. The family and I enjoyed the meal and I would happily go back if others booked it but I wouldn’t necessarily make an effort to go back

Great location of course - wonderful to walk through the grand courtyard - one of London's most magnificent - or indeed along the terrace above the river - to get to the restaurant. A lovely suite of rooms, now most elegantly decorated, with attractive decoration and beautiful lighting and fun pictures. The whole ambience most inviting and agreeable to dine in. We had booked the bargain lunch with 2 or 3 courses are very reasonable prices but were actually very spoiled with some extra treats! All the food very tasty and elegantly served but the mille feuille pudding was simply to die for: one of the best desserts ever! Service was most attentive and quick. Loved it all and will be back.
