Restaurant description

Set within one of London’s most famous buildings, Bryn Williams at Somerset House offers modern British dining, serving seasonal dishes where the fruit and vegetable components take centre stage. With a relaxed and contemporary environment, Somerset House’s creative community is at the restaurant’s core – reflected through the food, service and design.

The menu has a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. Seasonal mains include roast young broccoli with olive tapenade and sage beignet, and scorched Cornish mackerel with char-grilled leeks, Burke Brown egg and morel mushroom. Continuing the veg-centric theme, a range of salads are also offered, as well as signature, fruit-heavy desserts such as poached rhubarb and blood orange trifle.

The restaurant is Williams’ second London opening, adding to a portfolio that includes Odette’s in Primrose Hill, where he has held the position of chef patron since 2008.

A stone’s throw from the theatres of London’s Aldwych, find Bryn Williams at Somerset House a 4-minute walk from Temple Tube Station.

On Sundays the restaurant is available for private hire.

Visited Bryn Williams on a Friday evening to celebrate my partners birthday. Somerset house is a lovely setting, very romantic with views over the Thames towards the Southbank. We were a bit worried that the restaurant might be empty due to being just off the West End but that wasn't the case and there was a good atmosphere, aided by the friendly manor of the servers. The food and drink were good with the set meal deal being very good value. I'd defiantly recommend a visit.

Food was delicious, I had the piglet cheeks, while tasty a little bit stringy and chewy, but the vegetables excellent and fresh the pork possibly not cooked on the day---hard to say --the colour was a little friend took the special-vegetarian and really enjoyed it. The coffee i had was pretty poor-far too weak-it was a flat white. Good value for the standard of food. The wine was good quality white Pinot. Seating was comfortable and service was as one would expect. It was v easy t talk to my companion I can't recall music but if there was any it didn't intrude which is a very good thing- Overall layout could feel more cosy ---a slight feeling of being in a corridor...

Excellent in every way. Met an old friend for a lengthy, chatty lunch. We were not hurried in any way and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.

The building was very charismatic, and gave us lots of Christmas spirit. However the dining hall we were in was empty and lacked atmosphere. The staff were friendly albeit mainly Eastern European but tried their best to deliver a good experience. The food was of good quality and overall we very much enjoy that meal. We may return if there are offers which give a set menu three courses at a sensible price. The à la cart menu is A little pricey Thanks
