Restaurant description

Set within one of London’s most famous buildings, Bryn Williams at Somerset House offers modern British dining, serving seasonal dishes where the fruit and vegetable components take centre stage. With a relaxed and contemporary environment, Somerset House’s creative community is at the restaurant’s core – reflected through the food, service and design.

The menu has a strong focus on sustainability, seasonality and provenance. Seasonal mains include roast young broccoli with olive tapenade and sage beignet, and scorched Cornish mackerel with char-grilled leeks, Burke Brown egg and morel mushroom. Continuing the veg-centric theme, a range of salads are also offered, as well as signature, fruit-heavy desserts such as poached rhubarb and blood orange trifle.

The restaurant is Williams’ second London opening, adding to a portfolio that includes Odette’s in Primrose Hill, where he has held the position of chef patron since 2008.

A stone’s throw from the theatres of London’s Aldwych, find Bryn Williams at Somerset House a 4-minute walk from Temple Tube Station.

On Sundays the restaurant is available for private hire.

We booked the three course lunch with a cocktail deal through Bookatable and we're delighted that we did so, the staff were friendly, inviting and attentive, the set menu is a little restrictive being a choice of two, two cocktails, two starters, you get the idea but don't be put off by this because the cocktails were the best we'd had in a long time and the food was delicious. The only slight negative is that the restaurant doesn't have it's own facilities you have to use the public ones in Somerset House so as we found there may be a queue but this wouldn't stop us eating here again.

Food was great and service brilliant . Spanish waitress was fantastic , funny , engaging , helpful etc . She made the whole experience so much nicer for us . A real credit to the restaurant and deserved all of the service charge .

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Bryn Williams at Somerset House. Atmosphere was nice and relaxed, and the waiting staff friendly. The soda bread was extremely good, and our meals really were delicious! Starter of mackerel and tomato tart were great, mains of lamb and potato gnocchi were outstanding. Desert was panna cotta (biggest we’ve ever had!) and vanilla mango cheesecake were beautiful too. We enjoyed every mouthful of each course. We will be back.

Food was just average, for a restaurant inside Somerset House we have expected much more. The ambience was not great and the overall experience was lacking.

We went for a birthday celebration we loved the setting with a table by the window and view of the Embankment The meal we had was excellent. Very tasty especially the cured salmon unfortunately we were very disappointed with the meringue desert. IThe meringue was very hard , difficult to cut and more like a shop bought meringue. We expected a more squishy chewy patisserie type desert However we enjoyed the celebration in your restaurant

Pretty average to be honest. The starters were ok, but the mains were disappointing at best. I would have expected a bit more from this place. Service was very friendly and efficient though.
