Lovely relaxing atmosphere, every need anticipated. Smoked salmon mousse and sea bream with beetroot risotto was superb. The desert was delicious too if too generous a portion. Excellent value too.

Atmosphere is classy and friendly. Interior is cute. My friend and I enjoyed afternoon tea and liked sandwitch. Cakes are also tasty and good size. We couldn't finished but a kind waitress nicely put it in the box. Interesting idea to keep the price low by limited the choice of tea. But I think it is wise idea and I like it.

My visit to Brumus was disappointing. It's a lovely looking place and staff are friendly but the major pluses end there. We ordered from the set menu that was limited but seemed good. On arrival at our table we decided what we wanted to eat quite quickly as we were going to a viewing. We ordered a bottle of water and a glass of savignon blanc and a gavi, these did not arrive until just before our mains and we did not get the wines we ordered - they tasted the same and of inferior quality, more like their house white. They queried our objection and then brought the correct wines. Starters of mushroom soup with and truffle oil and onion tart were fair but the soup was under-seasoned, thin and it could have been any oil as there was not even a vague taste of truffle. We both had the pollock with rosti for mains. The pollock was well-cooked but I would say unseasoned, the rosti were two (each!) hulking great hash browns (they were triangular like the frozen things you get) again unseasoned. Don't attempt the dessert table by the door as the cakes are dry and tasteless - we had the apple tart and victoria sponge. It was so disappointing and cost £76...I think I could do better at a bistro-style place in central London. A secret diner needs to be sent here to experience the joy.

Brutus is a gem of a restaurant in the West End. It is an oasis of relaxation. Perfect for pre theatre meals. It is very good value for money. Delightful staff..
