Housed in the converted Athenaeum, Browns Brasserie & Bar – Manchester serves a delicious menu of hearty European food and thirst-quenching cocktails in a vibrant, contemporary atmosphere. Designed in 1902, the building incorporates Edwardian baroque architecture with eye-catching art-nouveau detailing, such as intricate wrought-iron work.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous European flavours include lobster tagliatelle, the wild boar & chorizo burger, or steak pie with buttered mash and broad beans. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, and smoothies. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar - Manchester is a 15-minute walk from Salford Central Rail Station. Manchester Arndale Shopping Centre is just a 5-minute walk away.

Disappointing. Its a gorgeous building and we were given a quiet table as requested. Service was good but I would say the food was average. I’ve had the same meal in the past at Leeds and Manchester and it was much better in the past. The fish cake stater was very small, there was too much potato and it was soggy. Not worth the money. The chicken & ham pie was also disappointing, felt like it was tinned! We had to pay extra for vegetables which were ok but again pricey for what they were. I’m really sad because I have always thought Browns was reliable.

A lovely afternoon! We were very impressed with the service we received. I was suffering with scold and cough and was provided with a hot lemon drink ! Really impressed and made me feel so much better. We had afternoon tea which was very nice.

Great architecture. Hard to choose between the lobster and the sirloin. Only issue is background mural was too loud.

Very welcoming staff, fabulous interior, delicious food and we got 25% off the price. What's not to like?? Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Lovely surroundings in a former bank. Food was very good, the creme brûlée one of the best I've had. Also impressed with the choice of soft drinks, interesting for a change! I took my 15 year old daughter as a belated birthday lunch during a shopping trip and she was delighted. Service great too.

Afternoon tea excellent. Sat on chewing gum in restaurant, thought it would come off when git home but it has ruined my trousers. Staff were very apologetic. Chairs need to be checked first.
