Restaurant description

Close to the theatre, in the centre of a shopping hub, Browns Brasserie & Bar Brighton is housed in two separate buildings: one for the bar, one for the restaurant. Set in the city where Browns opened its first restaurant in 1973, the brasserie is mentioned and recommended by Bill Bryson in his book, ‘Notes from a Small Island’.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous flavours include roasted lamb with potatoes & minted peas, Browns’ signature fish pie, and decadent salted caramel profiteroles. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, and smoothies. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar Brighton is just a 10-minute walk from Brighton Rail Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

It was a very disappointing experience for afternoon tea. The setting was very noisy. The food wasn't even close to the norm, i.e. scone was not tasty, sandwich was replaced with rolls, and cakes were drooping and cakey... There was not a great selection of tea, either. A certain staff kept bumping into my chair without apologising, as well.

Had the afternoon tea, was nice but very sweet too many cakes not enough sandwiches. Screaming children did not make it a relaxing experience, was more like a creche lol!

Very good service, I think the lady may have been Spanish. Very friendly, food was excellent and good value for the lunch deal.

The food was good service was poor and all the waiters were miserable and angry not at all helpful. The waiter we had kicked my friends bag under the table saying it was in the way. The bill wasn't clear either. I usually go to the Covent Garden branch and it's always very nice. Disappointed at the service

We used to date here in the 70s and came back to celebrate our anniversary. Lovely cocktails, good value food, perfect service and nice ambience
