Restaurant description

Close to the theatre, in the centre of a shopping hub, Browns Brasserie & Bar Brighton is housed in two separate buildings: one for the bar, one for the restaurant. Set in the city where Browns opened its first restaurant in 1973, the brasserie is mentioned and recommended by Bill Bryson in his book, ‘Notes from a Small Island’.

Spanning from breakfast through to lunch and dinner, the Browns menu offers all-day brasserie dining. Indulgent plats du jour and Sunday roasts are staple favourites, while sumptuous flavours include roasted lamb with potatoes & minted peas, Browns’ signature fish pie, and decadent salted caramel profiteroles. A sophisticated children’s menu at Browns offers tempting favourites with a grown-up twist.

Showcasing a penchant for cocktails, the Browns bar offers an array of classic mixes, signature concoctions and thirst-quenching mocktails, as well as fine world wines, and smoothies. Enjoy Browns’ afternoon tea and cake accompanied freshly-roasted coffee from an independent supplier, or a warming pot of loose leaf tea.

Browns Brasserie & Bar Brighton is just a 10-minute walk from Brighton Rail Station.

The food was absolutely terrible. My wife was not able to eat the under cooked rice and overcooked fish. We will not be returning.

Massively overpriced and fixtures and fittings all a bit grubby.

Standard brasserie fayre served well. We have used Browns for years and it always lives up to expectations

The table was too small for four people to sit comfortably with drinks and meals. The table was also right next to the toilet. The staff were kind enough to move us when asked. The scallops starter was tiny for the price and definitely should not be under the sharers section. The lamb duo is small and needs a side to bulk this up (especially after sharing a scallops starter) so this brings the price up a lot. The pork belly main was nice overall. The meat was nice but the cabbage had a watery taste to it and the crackling was inedible. We also were not offered any further drinks with our meal. Overall, poor value for money and wouldn't return anytime soon.
