Restaurant description

The Garden Restaurant at Bromley Court serves flavour-packed European food within an elegant hotel built in 1801. Classic afternoon teas are also served, with a cocktail bar and terrace further adding to the charm.

From the menu, sample roast breast of chicken with grain mustard cream sauce, or seared ox tongue with woodland mushroom and Madeira jus. Amongst the fish dishes, enjoy salmon and dill fishcakes, or for a vegetarian option, try steamed herb pancake filled with roast butternut squash and served with pesto and rocket.

Tempting desserts at the Bromley Court Hotel include vanilla pods cheesecake with chocolate sauce and strawberry ice cream, and a chocolate and coconut parfait with Malibu and pineapple compote. Housed in the hotel’s former library, classic cocktails are served in the bar, whilst the south-facing terrace offers a sunny spot for al fresco dining.

The food (afternoon tea) was fantastic & I couldn't fault that. The tablecloth was spotless- however the crockery was not matching, & the tumblers were less than sparkling. We could have done with more hot water for the tea, or offer of a fresh brew. We could have asked, but being on the terrace it was difficult to attract attention. Service was friendly & efficient.

I booked to have dinner here because it would have been our wedding night but had to cancel due to Covid 19. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our 3 course meal was lovely, I had a Greek salad with feta cheese for starter and a chicken meal with thick fries and vegetables, dessert was lime cheese cake.

Had a lovely wedding anniversary dinner here. From the moment we arrived until we left , we were made to feel special. The food was really nice especially the Fish and Chips. Really good service and some nice wine too. Little nice touch was Happy Anniversary written in chocolate on the edge of the dessert plate. Will be back for our anniversary next year

Afternoon Tea. Quiet and well distanced tables. Good service. Three different plates, all of which were very tasty and well presented. Good value for money with [voucher].

I have had afternoon tea here several times which is excellent but this is my first time having a meal and I would not recommend. The chips were so hard and from what I could see plates from most diners were being cleared with them still on. I think they are batch cooked and then put in oil to heat them up to serve, meaning the inside is dry and outside is too hard. I had battered cod - the batter was way too oily so I tried to just eat the cod but it was watery and tasteless. The people I was with who tried other dishes also were not impressed with their meals. A lot of food was wasted. Such a shame as we had high hopes as the afternoon tea is so good.

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal, and with the added 30% off voucher for multiple use was a bonus. Will be booking again for further days out.
