Restaurant description

Surrounded by the rambling Norfolk greenery, the Brasserie at Barnham Broom is a cosy countryside retreat with an award-winning menu. Sourcing all seasonal produce locally, the intimate dining area benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows, while the summer terrace offers sensational views of the grounds: perfect for al fresco dining.

With a focus placed on local produce, the Brasserie at Barnham Broom menu serves up contemporary British cuisine, such as shin of beef with heritage purple carrot and slow-roasted onion, and Magret duck breast, with chicken liver pate and mash potato. The Norfolk mixed grill includes weighty slabs of meat including honey-roasted rump of lamb, Anglais steak, sweet-cured gammon and chorizo sausage: a menu favourite for carnivores, no doubt.

Indulgent desserts include red wine poached pear with yoghurt sorbet, and Norfolk treacle tart with bay ice cream. A great selection of local ales, fragrant cocktails and delicious wines complement the menu.

Afternoon tea was absolutely lovely. A good selection of loose leaf teas that we’d never heard of before and loved trying, and the food was delicious. A great view over the grounds too from where we were sitting. The only downside of our experience was all the wait staff seemed to disappear half way through our visit (though the were lovely before they vanished). We would have loved a top up of our tea, but no one was around to ask, and my fiancé even walked around the restaurant area a few times looking for someone. Once we decided to leave, we then had to wait a further 20 minutes just for someone to appear so that we could settle the bill. It really was a lovely visit, and we’d like return again, but the disappearance of staff was a bit of a let down and made our visit end on a bit of a flat note. We really would have loved to have had more tea!!

Booked afternoon tea for my Mum who has just been diagnosed with cancer. She loves the afternoon tea here and we're trying to spend a lot of time with her. Again we had a lovely time, the food was enjoyable and the staff were friendly and made sure we were looked after.

Afternoon tea. Service and meal were both average, but it's inexpensive. Nice location, great view. Might go again - it's probably better in a group, for the atmosphere.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights, Friday and Saturday, eating dinner in the restaurant both evenings plus breakfasts. There was no shortage of food at any of our meals and it was all very nicely presented with great choices and selections. My wife loved the scallops (who doesn’t) and so had them for starters both evenings. I had the scallops one evening then mussels the next evening. Whilst all were nice they would have benefitted from addition flavours in the dishes, herbs, spices etc. The first evenings main course was lamb shank for both of us and the size of these lamb shanks were large! Lovely meal but if I had any criticism it would be that they lacked flavour from say rosemary or other herbs and would have benefitted from red wine in the gravy. The desserts were lovely and there they were full of flavour, ice cream with Gorgonzola was definitely different and tasted great! The white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was also lovely yum yum!! Breakfasts were a 10 out of 10, nothing missing from those and again plenty of choice in the buffet plus cooked breakfast. We will go back for another visit despite the 4 hour journey to get there ????

We has afternoon tea and it was lovely. The scones were particularly tasty especially the savoury cheese and walnut one. I would defiantly recommend it and go again myself.

A wonderful afternoon tea but the sandwiches are very small. Overall, there was plenty of food though. Great selection of teas to choose from.
